Wright Wants To "Go Deeper" with Danzer

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 300 ante
Larry Wright
Larry Wright

From under the gun, George Danzer raised to 2,400. Larry Wright called from the cutoff seat, and Jason Mercier called from the small blind. Mercier drew two, Danzer took one, and Wright stood pat.

After the draw, Mercier checked, Danzer fired 6,000, and Wright called quickly. Mercier folded. Danzer said that he made a pair again and showed {8-}{4-}{3-}{3-}{2-}. Wright showed {10-}{8-}{7-}{5-}{4-} and won the pot.

"Did you think I stayed with that full house again, George?" joked Wright as he was pushed the pot, referencing a hand from earlier.

"No, I thought you had a 10," responded Danzer.

"Oh really?" questioned Wright.

"Yeah, I thought you had a 10 and that you would raise and then I could go all in and you'd fold," Danzer elaborated.

"Wow, that's deep," responded Wright with wide eyes. "We should get a drink after. I want to go deeper."

Everyone at the table got a big laugh from Wright's final comment, especially Mercier and Nick Schulman. Schulman chuckled, shook his head, and mouthed the word "wow" under his breath.

After all of that, Wright asked Danzer how old he was.

"Thirty," answered Danzer.

"Ahh, the lost age," said Wright.

This comment got Schulman's attention. "Why the lost age? Who told you that" he asked.

"My daughter. You'll have to ask her, I don't know. One day that's what she told me," said Wright.

Hellmuth Doubles Through Negreanu

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 300 ante
Daniel Negreanu Ships Double Up Chips to Hellmuth
Daniel Negreanu Ships Double Up Chips to Hellmuth

We arrived at the table just in time to find Phil Hellmuth all in for his tournament life of about 20,000 against Daniel Negreanu. Both players took one card at the draw and their hands were tabled.

Hellmuth: {9-}{6-}{4-}{2-}
Negreanu: {5-}{4-}{3-}{2-}

Hellmuth pulled a second {2-} for his fifth card, giving him a pair. Negreanu looked at his card and announced it was a three-across.

"Ah!" said Negreanu. "It's a six. Straight! You're good, buddy."

Negreanu rolled over a {6-}, giving him the straight that allowed Hellmuth to find new life in the tournament.

"Three across is normally an amazing sweat there," said Negreanu with a smile.

"Wow," said Hellmuth. "I was all in there. In razz (referencing his runner-up finish in Event #7: $1,500 Seven Card Razz) I never was all in."

"What about when you busted?" needled Abe Mosseri from across the table. This elicited a a hearty laugh from Negreanu and a chuckle from Hellmuth while he stacked his new chips.

Schneider Falls to Bellande

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 300 ante
Tom Schneider - Eliminated
Tom Schneider - Eliminated

Tom Schneider moved all in for his last 7,000 from under the gun and action trickled around to Jean-Robert Bellande in the big blind who dropped out a call. Bellande stood pat and Schneider picked up one new card.

Bellande fanned {9-}{8-}{7-}{5-}{2-} for a ninety-eight and Schneider showed {9-}{8-}{7-}{2-} for a ninety-eight draw. Schneider squeezed out the {6-Diamonds}, making his ninety-eight but failing to improve enough to best Bellande. He was eliminated from play and Bellande raked in the pot, bringing his stack to 50,000.

Schulman Jams On Wright Twice

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 300 ante

Action folded to Larry Wright in the cutoff seat and he raised to 2,000. Nick Schulman reraised all in from the button, and Wright folded after showing {A-}{A-} from his hand.

On the next hand, Wright raised to 2,400 and Schulman reraised all in. Wright folded again, showing {7-}{7-}{6-}{6-} this time.

"I gotta stop trying to snow you," said Wright with a smile after the hand.

Turner with the Three-Bet

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 300 ante

Greg Mueller opened the action with a raise to 2,500 and Justin Smith flatted from the cutoff. Action came around to Jon Turner in the small blind and he cut out a three-bet to 11,000. Mueller went into the tank and ultimately opted to release his hand. Smith called and the two were off to the draw.

Turner tapped the table, signifying that he was pat. Smith took one card and checked it back once Turner checked to him. Turner tabled {10-}{9-}{8-}{7-}{5-} which was good enough to take down the pot. Turner is now at 73,000 while Smith has dropped to 53,000.

Monnette's Jack-Eight is Better

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 300 ante

Phil Hellmuth raised to 2,600 from early position and Michael Mizrachi called from the next seat over. Action folded over to John Monnette in the big blind and he called as well. Monnette pulled two new cards, Hellmuth stood pat, and Mizrachi took one.

Monnette checked and Hellmuth rapped the table back. Mizrachi finished the betting with a check and Hellmuth announced his hand.

"Jack-eight," said the PokerBrat.

Mizrachi mucked his cards. Monnette, on the other hand, also had a jack-eight low - {J-}{8-}{5-}{4-}{2-}.

"Damn it!" snapped Hellmuth as he stood from the table. He threw {j-}{8-}{6-}{5-}{3-} on the felt for a worse jack-eight low. "What game are we playing?!"

Monnette was pushed the pot and brought his stack up to about 28,000.

Larry Wright is the Life of the Party

Larry Wright

Jason Mercier raised to 2,500 and found calls from Galen Hall in the small blind and Larry Wright in the big blind. All three players took one card at the draw.

Hall checked over to Wright who fired out for 5,000. Mercier let it go and Hall went into the tank, eyeing up Wright's stack in the process.

"Quit lookin' at those pink chips!" boomed Wright. "Don't look at those. He's thinkin' about raising! Don't look at those!"

Wright's voice brought a silence over the room.

"How are you still in?" yelled Jean-Robert Bellande from the next table over. This was met with laughter from the surrounding tables. After the laughter subsided, Hall tossed out a call.

"I've got a seven," deadpanned Wright, which was met with even more laughter from the adjacent tables. He smiled. "What? I always draw perfect!"

Wright showed his {7-}{6-}{5-}{4-}{2-} and raked in the chips. The 2012 $1,500 No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw bracelet winner is now sitting on about 118,000 while Hall has dropped to 95,000.
