More For Volpe

Level 14 : 15,000/3,000, 700 ante

Paul Volpe opened with a raise to 6,000 and found calls from Brian Rast in the small blind and Darren Elias in the big blind.

Each player took one card at the draw and Rast came out swinging for 17,000. Elias flat called and Volpe tossed out a call as well.

"Pair of sevens," said Rast.

Volpe tabled {9-}{7-}{6-}{5-}{2-} for a ninety-seven, which prompted Elias to fling his cards into the muck. Rast mucked the rest of his cards and Volpe was pushed the pot. He now has about 100,000 in chips.

Volpe Doubles

Paul Volpe moved all in for 24,700 from under the gun, and Darren Elias called out of the small blind. Elias stood pat, and Volpe drew one.

Elias: {j-}{9-}{7-}{6-}{4-}
Volpe: {8-}{6-}{3-}{2-}

"Three across is a great sweat," Daniel Negreanu said, grinning.

Volpe peeled his card so much that it was damaged - and needed to be replaced - and it was three across. Luckily for him it was the {7-Clubs}, and he successfully doubled through.

"I've never played with such flimsy cards," Volpe said.

"Oh yeah," Negreanu said. "Blame the cards!"

Larry Wright raised to 6,500 on the button, Ashton Griffin reraised to 22,000 from the small blind, and Jason Mercier cold-called in the big blind. Wright called as well.

Griffin and Mercier both stood pat, while Wright drew two. All three players checked, and Mercier took it down with {10-}{8-}{7-}{3-}{2-}.

Mike Watson Eliminated in 13th Place ($16,601)

Mike Watson - 13th Place
Mike Watson - 13th Place

As this elimination occurred simultaneously with Jon Turner's, we missed the action heading to the draw. We arrived in time to find out that both Darren Elias and Mike Watson pulled one new card at the draw. The two got it all in for Watson's tournament life and Watson showed an eight perfect - {8-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-}.

Elias had that beat, however, with {7-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-} for number two. Watson hit the rail and will collect $16,601 in tournament winnings. Elias is now sitting on the big stack with about 360,000 in chips.

Jon Turner - 14th Place

Jon Turner open shipped all in from early position for his last 45,000. Action folded around to Rep Porter in the big blind who tossed out a call and announced that he was pat. Turner let out a sigh, thought for about 30 seconds, and announced that he was pat as well

Porter rolled over {10-}{7-}{6-}{5-}{3-} for a pat ten-seven. Turner tabled {10-}{9-}{8-}{6-}{3-} for a worse ten and was eliminated from play. Turner's cash earns him a payday of $16,601.

Porter is now sitting on 195,000 in chips.

Galen Hall Bubbles

Level 14 : 15,000/3,000, 700 ante
Galen Hall - Eliminated on the Bubble
Galen Hall - Eliminated on the Bubble

Brian Rast opened the action with an early position raise to 7,000. Galen Hall three-bet shipped all in over the top for his last 42,000 and it folded back to Rast who went into the tank for about a minute. Ultimately, Rast opted to slide forward a call and stand pat with his hand. Hall drew one card and the hands were tabled.

Rast: {10-}{6-}{5-}{3-}{2-}
Hall: {7-}{6-}{3-}{2-}

Hall was drawing live to beat Rast's ten-six low. He squeezed out his card and a disappointed look washed over his face. Hall flung the {A-Spades} on the table, giving him an ace-low and the second best hand. Hall was eliminated as the bubble boy while Rast brought his stack up to 245,000.

Following Hall's elimination, the field redrew to the final two tables. A full seating chart and chip counts will be posted momentarily.

Sheikhan Sent Packing

Level 14 : 15,000/3,000, 700 ante
Shawn Sheikhan
Shawn Sheikhan

Darren Elias raised to 6,500 in first position, Shawn Sheikhan moved all in for 14,200 on his direct left, and Abe Mosseri re-shoved for 45,200 out of the big blind. Elias tank-folded.

Mosseri drew one card, prompting Sheikhan to rip his cards off of the felt.

"I don't know what the f*** to do with this hand," he said.

He finally stood pat, revealing {q-}{10-}{9-}{7-}{4-}, and Mosseri showed {7-}{6-}{4-}{2-}. Mosseri drew paint, but his {q-} was good enough to score the pot and the knockout.

We are now playing hand-for-hand until the bubble bursts.
