Rutter Makes the Call

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

With two opponents checking, Calen McNeil bet after fourth street made the community {j-Spades}{2-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades}. Both of his opponents called, and the {a-Hearts} hit the river. Stuart Rutter checked, but Lance Dodd fired out a bet, and McNeil quickly called. Rutter wasn't so quick; he went into the tank for about 90 seconds before deciding to make the call.

Dodd showed {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} for the nut low and aces for high. Rutter held {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{7-Spades}{4-Hearts} for aces with a king kicker. McNeil flashed {a-}{3-}{5-}{6-} for a weaker low and weaker high, and he mucked his hand.

Rutter's neighbor congratulated him on the call.

"There was too much out there," he said.
