Hunichen Tormented by Lichtenberger

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Andrew Lichtenberger raised to 13,000 on the button, Chris Hunichen reraised to 30,000 out of the small blind, and Lichtenberger made the call. The flop fell {2-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{5-Hearts}, Hunichen led out for 38,000, and Lichtenberger called.

The turn was the {8-Spades}, Hunichen checked, and Lichtenberger took the opportunity to bet 45,000. Hunichen mulled the decision over for a bit, then folded.

"I have the best hand against you every time," Hunichen sighed. "And you always beat me."

Benny Chen Eliminated in 25th Place ($16,196)

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Benny Chen (Giving shuffle up and deal prior to Millionaire Maker) - Eliminated
Benny Chen (Giving shuffle up and deal prior to Millionaire Maker) - Eliminated

Benny Chen moved all in for 98,000 on the button, and Jeremy Kottler called in the big blind.

Chen: {a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}
Kottler: {a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

Kottler increased his lead on a flop of {9-Spades}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades}, but Chen had an inside straight draw. Unfortunately for him, the turn and river bricked {6-Clubs}, {7-Clubs} respectively, and he was elimianted in 25th place. He'll earn $16,196 for his efforts.

Kottler chipped up to 770,000.

Jared Hamby Eliminated in 24th Place ($19,731)

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Jared Hamby

Whenever you encounter pocket aces and pocket kings all in against each other before the flop you're going to end up feeling really sorry for one of the two players by the end of it. It's an unavoidable situation for both, and this time Jared Hamby was on the wrong side of things.

It started with Griffin Benger who raised to 12,000 and he was three-bet by Matt Jarvis from the button to 35,000. Hamby was next to act and he four-bet to 72,000 which got Benger to quickly fold.

Jarvis went into the tank a little longer this time before making it 118,000 to go. Hamby responded with an all-in shove for around 310,000 and the former November Niner called right away.

"Aces?" Hamby asked Jarvis in the split second before the cards were turned over.

Jarivs nodded and Hamby's face turned very sour.

Hamby: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}
Jarvis: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}

The board ran out {10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and Hamby was knocked out.

Benger's World Series Runbad Continues

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Griffin Benger has had a few close calls at the World Series of Poker, most notably his 14th-place finish in Event #40 of the 2013 WSOP, but lady luck is rarely on his side during the latter stages here at the Rio. In his bust-out hand from that event, Benger was all in and at risk with pocket aces against Peter Hengsakul's pocket kings, and 25% of the chips in play were in the middle of the table.

The flop produced three blanks, as did the turn, but the river was the {k-Clubs}, and Benger was eliminated.

We just saw Benger take another brutal hit in a bracelet event, this time at the hands of Pratyush Buddiga. Buddiga opened to 12,000 on the button, Benger three-bet to 31,000 out of the small blind, and Buddiga moved all in for 196,000. Benger made a quick call, and had Buddiga dominated.

Buddiga: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Benger: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

Benger remained ahead after the {9-Spades}{2-Clubs}{8-Hearts} flop, but the turn was the {j-Spades}, giving Buddiga a pair of jacks. The {3-Hearts} bricked off on the river, and Buddiga doubled to 400,000 chips.

Benger was crippled, left with just 31,000.

Benger Gets Some Back

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Pratyush Buddiga raised to 12,000, Griffin Benger moved all in for 27,000, and Greg Merson cold four-bet to 50,000. Buddiga folded.

Benger: {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Merson: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

Benger was in trouble, but the {q-Spades}{k-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flop gave him an up-and-down straight draw along with a flush draw. He hit neither on the turn, but the {j-Spades} gave him a superior pair. The {7-Clubs} on the river gave him a flush for kicks and giggles, and he doubled through.

Merson dropped down to 115,000 chips.

Kottler Puts Kanit to the Test

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Mustapha Kanit raised to 12,000 in the cutoff, Jeremy Kottler three-bet to 28,000 on the button, and Kanit made the call.

The two took a flop of {5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}, Kanit checked, and Kottler fired out 25,000. Kanit called. The turn was the {10-Spades}, Kanit knuckled again, and Kottler bet another 41,000. Kanit check-raised to 92,000, Kottler called, and the {j-Diamonds} completed the board.

Kanit checked a third time, Kottler moved all in for effectively 147,000, and Kanit tanked for around two minutes before folding.

Kottler chipped up to 885,000 chips, while Kanit is down to 147,000.

Musumeci Runs into Vaillancourt's Aces

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Noah Vaillancourt
Noah Vaillancourt

Noah Vaillancourt raised to 13,000 from under the gun, Amanda Musumeci three-bet to 29,000 on his direct left, and the action folded back to Vaillancourt, who moved all in for 87,000. Musumeci called.

Vaillancourt: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}
Musumeci: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

Vaillancourt had Musumeci dominated, but she flopped a sweat when the dealer fanned {5-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{q-Hearts}. The turn was paint, but the {j-Spades} was a brick, as was the {2-Clubs} on the river.

Musumeci fell to 98,000 chips, while Vaillancourt doubled to 189,000.
