Trip Nines No Good for Phil

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Catching the action on seventh street, we found Phil Ivey all in against two opponents - one of which was bracelet winner Chris Viox. Viox bet, a third player called and the cards were tabled.

Viox: {4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} / {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} / {K-Spades}
Ivey: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} / {9-Spades}{4-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{2-Spades} / {5-Clubs}
Opponent: {X-}{X-} / {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{Q-Spades} / {X-}

With Ivey failing to improve to a full house to beat Viox's flush, he scurried to the rail as Viox scooped the pot.

Glantz Pushing Savage's Buttons?

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

"Hey you gotta put this in the blog," stated Matt Glantz to our PokerNews field reporter.

"I'm waiting here to sit down until half the hand is dealt because I have Matt on my left!" laughed Glantz.

Glantz is currently sitting next to Tournament Director extraordinaire Matt Savage who was one of the faces behind the implementation of the First Card off the Deck rule now used in the majority of casinos - but not here at the WSOP.

With many players having expressed issues at the rule, Glantz is using his time seated next to Savage as somewhat of a way to vent for the players against the rule. Or so we believe.

Savage and Wallace Chop It Up

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Christopher Wallace completed and Matt Savage raised. Wallace called as both players checked fourth before Savage bet fifth with Wallace called. Sixth street was checked though before Savage bet the river and Wallace tank-called.

Wallace: {X-}{X-} / {8-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} / {X-}
Savage: {X-}{X-} / {5-Hearts}{9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} / {X-}

Savage tabled his {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and Wallace his {Q-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Clubs} to see both players chop it up.

Roland Israelashvili completed and Kenna James raised. Israelashvili called and called a bet on fourth before leading on fifth with James calling before he raised all in on sixth for his last 1,500. Israelashvili called and each player tabled their hand.

James: {3-Spades}{2-Diamonds} / {7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}

Israelashvili peeled the {5-Hearts} to improve to two-pair as James could only find the {6-Hearts} and headed to the rail as Israelashvili climbed to 22,000 in chips.
