Play has ended for the night on Day 2 of Event #31: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em at the 45th annual World Series of Poker. Only 15 remain, all with their sights set on the WSOP gold bracelet and $418,435 in first-place prize money.

Matt Stout will take the chip lead into Day 3, bagging up 1,130,000, after 10 levels of play. Also among the top stacks are Aleksandr Gofman (951,000), Brett Shaffer (812,000), and Eric Spitzer (674,000).

Stout’s biggest hand came on the last hand of the night. With time on the tournament clock at zero, Alessandro Bardaro got his stack all in with Matt Stout on a flop of {2-Spades}{4-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}.

Bardaro: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Stout: {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}

Bardaro's overpair needed to connect with another jack to survive the hand and the night, but Stout's set held up through the turn and river of {k-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. Stout had eliminated Bardaro in 16th place and raked in a massive pot, just under 1,000,000 chips.

The day began with 187 hopefuls, and with 171 making the money, we were only 16 eliminations away. It did not take long for the bubble to burst. Just before the end of the first level, Douglas Stewart got cracked and he became the bubble boy.

On the second hand of hand-for-hand play, Seth Berger opened to 2,500 from mid-position, Stewart three-bet to 6,500 in the cutoff, Mario Coria called from the big blind, and Berger made the call as well.

The flop was dealt {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{q-Spades}, Coria and Berger checked, and Stewart bet 12,000. Coria folded, Berger raised to 30,000, enough to put Stewart all in, and Stewart made the call putting himself at risk.

Berger: {4-Spades}{6-Spades}
Stewart: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}

Stewart was ahead at the time, but Berger had flopped a flush draw. The turn brought the axe down on Stewart. Berger made his flush with the {3-Spades} and the river {8-Hearts} sent Stewart packing as the 172nd-place finisher.

The bust outs came quick and heavy once the players were in the money. Some notables unable to survive through Day 2 were Ray Qartomy, Eric Crane, Erik Cajelais, Lauren Kling, Vinny Pahuja, Ty Reiman, Nenad Medic, Kathryn Lindsay, Adam Levy, Corrie Wunstel, Sean Getzwiller, Jackie Glazier, Justin Zaki, Ankush Mandavia, Billy Kopp, and Eric Mizrachi,

Play will resume at 1 p.m. on Monday, where Day 3 action will play down to a champion. Keep it locked on PokerNews for all of the big hands and bust outs.

Jason Vanstrom had Jonathan Gray all in and at risk preflop.

Vanstrom: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}
Gray: {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}

The board ran out {q-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}, Vanstrom's full house was far ahead as Gray's pair of threes was counterfeited and he ended up playing the board.

Just after redrawing seats for the final two tables, Seth Berger pushed his short stack all in from early position and Ronald Sullivan made the call.

Berger: {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Sullivan: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

Berger had two live cards and was looking to connect with the board in some way, but the dealer peeled out {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{k-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and Sullivan had the better hand. Berger was eliminated in 18th place and will collect $14,994.

Jeffrey Finkelstein Eliminated in 19th Place ($12,242)

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Jeffrey Finkelstein watched on from the big blind and saw Matt Stout make it 27,000 to go from the button. The small blind ducked out of the way, Finkelstein moved all-in for around 110,000 and Stout made a reluctant call.

Stout: {A-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Finkelstein: {K-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

"That's a good flop," said Stout when he saw the {Q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} flop, the {10-Spades} hit the turn and although the {J-Diamonds} completed a straight for Finkelstein, it also improved Stout to a flush.

The remaining 18 players will now redraw seats.
