Bad Beat Sends Duhamel to the Rail

Level 18 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Jonathan Duhamel
Jonathan Duhamel

Jay Conley opened for 11,000 from early position and action folded around to 2010 World Series of Poker champ Jonathan Duhamel, who shoved all in from the small blind for 116,000. Conley called.

Duhamel: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Conley: {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}

Duhamel got it in as a big favorite, but Conley got lucky to hit a set on the {2-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop. The {J-Hearts} turn gave Duhamel a gutshot straight draw, but he missed when the {6-Spades} blanked on the river. Duhamel will take home $12,847 for his 37th-place finish.

Fhima Stays Alive

Level 18 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Kyle Bowker opened for 11,000 under the gun and Timo Pfutzenreuter called. Action then folded around to David Fhima in the small blind and he moved all in for 59,000. The big blind folded, Bowker called, and Pfutzenreuter got out of the way.

Fhima: {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Bowker: {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}

Bowker had been in a similar situation multiple times today, though he was the player with the better pair in those encounters. Even so, on more than one occasion the smaller pair found a set, so Bowker was hoping it was his turn to get lucky.

Unfortunately for him, that didn't happen as the board ran out a clean {9-Spades}{5-Spades}{6-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Fhima was pushed the pot.

Bowker Sends Lidor Packing

Level 18 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Tomer Lidor shoved over an early-position open from Kyle Bowker, who snap-called with {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}. Lidor had {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, and the first four cards gave him hope for a chop: {j-Spades}{6-Spades}{q-Spades}{k-Spades}. The {6-Diamonds} river ended his tournament, though.

Garcia Doubles Through Duhamel

Level 18 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Jose Garcia bet 14,000 out of the big blind with the board reading {10-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, and Jonathan Duhamel made the call. On the {3-Spades} river, Garcia pushed all in for 45,000, and Duhamel called after about 30 seconds. Garcia showed {j-}{10-} for top two, and he took the pot.

Big Double for Madsen

Level 18 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Jeff Madsen
Jeff Madsen

From the button, Jeff Madsen raised to 11,500. Yuri Dzivielevski three-bet to 28,500 out of the small blind, and Madsen made the call in position to take the {9-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop. After Dzivielevski checked, Madsen fired a bet of 31,000. Dzivielevski check-raised all in. Madsen looked back to double check his hand, then called quickly.

Madsen showed the {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades} for a set of sixes and was all in for 203,000 on the flop. Dzivielevski had the {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds} and could be seen shaking his head when he saw Madsen's set.

The turn was the {3-Spades}, and then the river completed the board with the {10-Clubs}. Madsen's set held up and he earned the full double up: 472,000. Dzivielevski was left with just 28,000 in chips.

Pfutzenreuter Busts Two at Once

Level 18 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Timo Pfutzenreuter
Timo Pfutzenreuter

Timo Pfutzenreuter has the chip lead and he likes to play pots — big ones, and most recently we've found that he likes to play big three-way pots, as he recently did.

In this one, Pfutzenreuter had the {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades} in a three-way all-in bloodbath against Chris Tryba holding the {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and Ankush Mandavia holding the {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}.

The board ran out {K-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{8-Spades}, and Pfutzenreuter's aces held up to bust both of his opponents.
