Gomez Takes a Chunk from Spinella

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

We found Anthony Spinella tanking against a 44,000 bet from Alberto Gomez on the end. The board had come {9-Hearts}{2-Spades}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{a-Clubs}, and Spinella splashed in a call after thinking for a bit. Gomez showed {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} for a boat on the river, and Spinella made a frustrated gesture before mucking.

At another table, Matt Jarvis got it all in with {a-}{q-} and lost to a player who turned a boat with {3-}{3-}.

Kling's Five-Bet Gets Through

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Lauren Kling was in the big blind and facing a raise to 7,000 from Jonas Kronwitter in the hijack seat. Kling responded with a three-bet to 18,500, which put the action back on Kronwitter.

Kronwitter took his original bet back and replaced it with T5,000 chips worth a combined 30,000, but Kling wasn't done, instead she five-bet to 48,000 and Kronwitter instantly folded.

O'Donnell Busto

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Matt O'Donnell just got the last of his stack in and was snap-called by a player holding {a-Spades}{j-Spades}, which dominated O'Donnell's {a-}{9-}. O'Donnell failed to catch up, and he busted just short of the bubble.

Selbst's Fall Complete

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Vanessa Selbst headed for the exits after losing a race.
Vanessa Selbst headed for the exits after losing a race.

Vanessa Selbst spent most of the day with heaps, but the fall came hard and fast. Marty Kozlov finished her off when he opened for 6,000 and then called her all-in shove of 34,200.

Kozlov: {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}
Selbst: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

Selbst got up to leave, but the {6-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades} brought some help in the form of a pair on the board. However, the {5-Diamonds} turn left her dead in the water.

Spinella Busts Cada

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Anthony Spinella opened the betting and then called when Joe Cada three-bet all in for 18,000 chips.

Spinella wished Cada good luck and showed {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and Cada the {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}. The {9-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs} flop improved Spinella to trip nines, but a jack on the turn or river would have given Cada a straight. The {4-Spades} landed on the turn and it was followed onto the board by the {6-Diamonds} and with that Cada was gone.

Hellmuth Has Heaps

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Phil Hellmuth has over 200,000 chips and it looks like he has boosted his stack by taking most of Vanessa Selbst's stack.

Arieh Binks River to Survive

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Ken Einiger took a rough beat.
Ken Einiger took a rough beat.

We found Josh Arieh, on the button, facing an all-in shove from Ken Einiger on a board of {10-Spades}{3-Clubs}{3-Spades}{7-Clubs}. Einiger was in the big blind and putting Arieh at risk for his last 87,000.

"Am I allowed to say anything?" Einiger asked the dealer, who shook his head negative.

Arieh took off his hat and ran his hands through his hair as he struggled with the decision before ultimately making the call. Einiger instantly flipped over {a-Spades}{3-Diamonds} for trips, and Arieh tossed {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs} into the middle for top pair and a flush draw. The dealer peeled the {6-Clubs} off the deck, saving Arieh's tournament by giving him a flush. Einiger could only shake his head in disappointment.
