Duval Unimpressed

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

A very pleasant older lady sporting a pink cast on her wrist raised preflop and Jason Duval said he was going to have to call.

“You always do.” she responded.

The flop was {4-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. The lady bet and Duval sighed before moving all in. She made the call and Duval turned over {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}.

“Oh I can’t even hit the six.” she said dismayed and turned over {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}.

The turn {3-Hearts} soon solved that with the river coming the {2-Spades}.

“I thought you had nothing. I thought you were just trying to bully me.” was her explanation for the call.

Duval was left bemoaning a five per-cent bad beat considering all the re-draws he had. That was a hit of nearly 70,000 to Duval’s stack.

Monnette Making Moves

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Action folded around to the player on the button and he made it 14,000 to go. John Monnette was in the small blind and cut out a three-bet to 28,500. The big blind folded and the button thought for about 30 seconds before tossing out a call.

The two saw a flop of {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and Monnette continued for 22,000. This bet sent his opponent into the tank for well over two minutes. All of the while, Monnette sat motionless except for the riffling of some chips. Ultimately, Monnette's opponent kicked his cards in and Monnette was pushed the pot. His stack is now up to about 550,000.

Clock Paused

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

The clock has been paused by the tournament directors as they do a little catching up.

With play resuming, action was fast and furious and close to 20 people busted on the first few hands meaning the tournament directors wanted to take a few moments to catch up, make sure they had everyone collecting their correct payout while also balancing and breaking tables as needed.
