Klein Goes Clubbing

Level 4 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Bill Klein checked to Noah Schwartz on a completed board of {6-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}, and Schwartz fired out 287,000 into a pot of what looked like 370,000.

Klein tank-called, and Schwartz ripped over {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} for an ace-high flush. Klein started to show his hand, flashing the {9-Spades}, then quickly mucked once he realized Schwartz had a flush.

Laliberté Shows "One"

Level 4 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Guy Laliberté
Guy Laliberté

Guy Laliberté raised to 28,000 in the cutoff, Tobias Reinkemeier called on the button, and Tony Gregg defended his big blind. The flop fell {8-Spades}{j-Spades}{a-Hearts}, Gregg checked, and Laliberté continued for 53,000. Only Gregg called.

The turn was the {6-Hearts}, both players checked, and the pair both knuckled when the {a-Spades} completed the board. Gregg turned over {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}, and raked in the pot.

The very next hand, Laliberté opened to 28,000, Daniel Cates three-bet to 84,000 on the button, and Laliberté responded with a four-bet to 228,000. Cates folded.

"Show one," Doug Polk told Laliberté.

"Just one?" The French-Canadian responded.

Polk nodded, and Laliberté pushed forward one of the "BIG ONE for ONE DROP" buttons before mucking has hand face down.

"There you go," he said, grinning. "There's 'one.'"

Colman Stays Silent And Takes Down a Big One

Level 4 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Daniel Colman
Daniel Colman

Daniel Colman raised from the cutoff to 28,000 and Tobias Reinkemeier three-bet from the small blind to 100,000. Colman four-bet to 230,000 shortly after the German's three-bet, and Reinkemeier tanked for a bit before making the call.

The flop came down {2-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{K-Clubs} and Reinkemeier checked to Colman who bet 185,000 and his opponent called.

On the turn the {4-Diamonds} hit and Reinkeiemer tapped the table again. Colman stared at his chips for a while before ultimately putting in a bet of 375,000. Reinkemeier made the call and the dealer put the {3-Spades} on the river.

Reinkemeier checked a third time and Colman paused for 30 seconds before tossing out a bet of 600,000 chips.

"Six-hundred 'K,'" Reinkemeier said, and after a short pause he added, "Big pot, huh?"

Colman stared motionless towards the table while Reinkeimer tanked.

"Spread it," Reinkemeier told the dealer, who spread the pot as the tanking continued. "What do you want me to do, do you want me to call? Should I fold? You're not even talking, huh?"

Doug Polk started laughing and said, "Now you're talking, huh?" to Reinkemeier.

"Stay out of it," Reinkemeier smiled, before eventually letting go of his hand.

"This would be a great time to show a bluff," Jason Mercier said, but Colman mucked his hand.

"Bluffing?" Reinkemeier tried once more, but Colman's cards were mucked and he took down this huge pot.

Esfandiari's 15-Minute Tank

Level 4 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Antonio Esfandiari deciding whether or not to call Greg Merson's all-in bet
Antonio Esfandiari deciding whether or not to call Greg Merson's all-in bet

Greg Merson opened to 27,000 in the cutoff, Antonio Esfandiari three-bet to 65,000 on his direct left on the button, and the action folded back to Merson. The 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event champ made it four bets, reraising to 215,000, and the defending champion of this event called to see a flop.

The dealer fanned the {j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, and Merson led out for 255,000. Esfandiari made the call, the turn brought the {4-Hearts}, and Merson checked.

Esfandiari took the opportunity to bet, tossing out 335,000, and Merson tank-called, using a T250,000 chip and some others.

"Here come the lavenders," Scott Seiver commented.

The {5-Hearts} hit the felt, completing the board, and almost instantly, Merson moved all in for effectively 1.8 million, as that's what Esfandiari had left. Merson shoved for a little over 1.9 million. Esfandiari went into the tank.

"I think I have to pay you off," Esfandiari said after a minute or so, adding something about Merson having a flush.

The ESPN cameras surrounded the table, and so did other players as several minutes elapsed.

"Will you show me if I fold?" Esfandiari asked Merson.

The Main Event champ remained silent. For the entire tank, he rested his head on his right hand and shuffled a stack of blue T5,000 chips with the other. His eyes, hidden behind a pair of prescription sunglasses, remained focus on one single spot on the felt.

Finally, after roughly 15 minutes, Esfandiari folded.

"I'll give five-hundred dollars to the charity of your choice if you show ace-king of diamonds," Seiver told Merson.

No answer.

"Two-thousand?" Seiver upped the price.

It was too late. Merson's cards were in the muck, and a great big smile crept across his face as he dragged the pot.

Tens Good For Choi

Level 4 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Stanley Choi limped the hijack and Cary Katz followed suit from the cutoff. Daniel Negreanu joined from the button, Erick Lindgren completed, and Phil Galfond checked from the big blind.

The five players took a flop of {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{9-Spades} and there were two checks to Choi. He fired 35,000, Katz folded, and Negreanu tossed out a call. The two blinds got out of the way, leaving Choi and Negreanu heads up to fourth street. The dealer put out the {10-Diamonds} on the turn and Choi slowed with a check. Negreanu took this opportunity to fire out 60,000. Choi stuck around.

Both players checked the {K-Clubs} on the river and Choi showed {Q-Spades}{10-Spades} for a pair of tens. Negreanu let out a chuckle before tossing his cards away. Choi pulled the pot and now sits on about 2.24 million in chips.

Kaplan on Broadway

Level 4 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

The flop read {Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Gabe Kaplan led out for 40,000. John Morgan clicked it back to 80,000 and Kaplan flatted to see a turn.

The dealer put out the {J-Hearts} on fourth street and Kaplan checked. Morgan knocked the table back, allowing the {5-Diamonds} to complete the board. Kaplan moved out 160,000, sending Morgan into the tank.

"If I stall long enough maybe one of us will die," said Morgan with a chuckle.

The entire table burst out into laughter, Kaplan included. As the laughter subsided, Morgan tossed out a call. Kaplan tabled {A-Hearts}{k-Spades} for a Broadway straight. Morgan threw his cards into the muck, saying that he folded ace-queen for top pair with top kicker.

Kaplan raked in the pot and now has about 3.225 million in chips while Morgan has dropped to 2.34 million.

Morgan's Playing Bad No Matter What

Level 4 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

The atmosphere in this tournament can be described in many ways, and jovial is definitely one of them.

"A $300 tournament or a $1,000,000 tournament, it doesn't matter. I'll play bad," John Morgan said with a smile during some table chatter.

Morgan just lost a pot to Paul Newey and we caught the action on the flop. The flop showed {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{A-Spades} when Morgan bet 55,000 from the small blind and Newey called from the big.

The turn was the {3-Diamonds} and Morgan bet 105,000 after which Newey raised to 275,000. Morgan tanked for about 30 seconds and called.

On the river the {4-Clubs} hit and both players checked. Morgan showed {K-Spades}{10-Hearts} and his hand was mucked when Newey tabled his {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. Newey raked in the pot and he's off to a great start here today.

Galfond Makes the Correct Call

Level 4 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Erick Lindgren raised to 20,000 on the button, and Phil Galfond and Rono Lo called out of the blinds. The trio all checked on a flop of {5-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{a-Clubs}, and the turn was the {6-Clubs}.

Galfond led out for 36,000, Lo called, and Lindgren folded.

The {q-Diamonds} completed the board, Galfond checked, and Lo fired out 158. Galfond went into the tank, cracking several knuckles, then finally called.

Lo snap-mucked, and Galfond showed the winner; {a-Hearts}{2-Spades}.
