Paul Newey doubles up

Hand #39: Daniel Negreanu raised to 450,000 from early position. Paul Newey called from the small blind, and Tobias Reinkemeier called out of the big blind.

The flop was {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, and Newey and Reinkemeier checked to Negreanu. He bet 600,000, and Newey folded. Reinkemeier called, though, and the turn was the {3-Hearts}. Reinkemeier checked, and Negreanu quickly checked behind.

The river was the {4-Hearts}, and both players checked. Reinkemeier showed {A-}{Q-}, and Negreanu mucked.

Hand #40: Phil Galfond raised from early position and won the pot.

Hand #41: Galfond opened to 425,000 from under the gun, and play moved over to Paul Newey in the cutoff seat. He studied for a few moments, then called, and Daniel Negreanu also came along from the big blind. The flop came down {A-Spades}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}, and Negreanu and Galfond checked. Newey bet 1.05 million, and Negreanu folded. Galfond, on the other hand, had other plans for this one.

Galfond took his time before raising to 2.315 million. Newey fought back with an all-in shove, and Galfond called with the {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}. Newey had the {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs} for the best hand at the time.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds}, and then the river was the {K-Hearts}. Newey finished with aces and kings and doubled to 10.1 million. He was all in on the flop for 4.265 million.

The turn was the {5-Diamonds}, Galfond led out for 900,000, and Colman called.

The {7-Diamonds} completed the board, bringing flush and straight possibilities, and Galfond checked. Colmon fired out a big bet, making it 2.3 million to go, and Galfond tanked for nearly three minutes before calling.

Colman showed the {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a flush and is now above 10 million chips.

Antonio Esfandiari
Antonio Esfandiari

Hand #32: With a dead button, Scott Seiver raised to 365,000 in the cutoff. Tobias Reinkemeier called in the small blind, Antonio Esfandiari surrendered his big blind, and the flop fell {j-Spades}{k-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. They checked on the flop, and the turn ({3-Diamonds}), and the river was the {2-Diamonds}.

Reinkemeier checked a third time, Seiver bet 380,000, and Reinkemeier folded.

Hand #33: Reinkemeier raised to 350,000 on the button, Esfandiari three-bet to 885,000 out of the small blind, and Reinkemeier called. The flop came {2-Hearts}{9-Spades}{k-Hearts}, Esfandiari checked, and Reinkemeier checked behind.

The turn was the {6-Hearts}, Esfandiari led out for 1.01 million, Reinkemeier called, and the {9-Hearts} completed the board, bringing a second nine and a fourth heart. Esfandiari fired out another 1.875 million, Reinkemeier snap-called, and the 2012 ONE DROP winner dragged a massive pot with {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds} for a full house.

Feature Table Hands #29-31: Trickett Out in 15th Place

Level 15 : 80,000/160,000, 20,000 ante
Sam Trickett
Sam Trickett

Hand #29: Tobias Reinkemeier raised to 350,000 from early position. Daniel Negreanu made the call from the hijack seat, and the flop came down {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. Reinkemeier bet 400,000, and Negreanu folded.

Hand #30: Scott Seiver raised to 365,000 on the button. Sam Trickett made the call out of the big blind, and the flop was {10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}. After both players checked, the {7-Diamonds} hit the turn. Trickett led for 400,000, and Seiver called to see the {6-Diamonds} put a fourth diamond on board on the river. Both players checked.

Trickett showed the {A-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, but it was Seiver's straight with the {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts} that would win the hand.

Hand #31: Daniel Negreanu raised to 360,000 from early position. Sam Trickett reraised to 800,000 out of the small blind, and action moved back to Negreanu. He called, and the flop came down {9-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}. Trickett was first and checked. Negreanu checked behind.

The turn was the {10-Hearts}, and Trickett bet 1.2 million. Negreanu called, and the pot swelled to 4.32 million in chips before the dealer completed the board with the {9-Clubs}. Trickett moved all in, and Negreanu immediately asked for a count from the dealer. He was informed the shove was for 3.865 million. According to the stat tracker screen, Negreanu had 3.915 million left in his stack at the time of Trickett's shove, so calling would mean putting nearly all of his chips at risk.

After about a minute, Negreanu called, and Trickett tabled the {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} for two pair, aces and nines. Negreanu had him beat, though, as he showed the {J-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for trip nines to win the pot and sent Trickett out the door in 15th place.

Hand #10: From the cutoff Phil Ivey raised to 260,000 and Christoph Vogelsang called from the button. Tom Hall three-bet from the big blind to 750,000 and only Ivey made the call. The flop came down {10-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and Hall immediately tossed out 750,000. Ivey tanked for a bit before raising it up to 2,000,000 and that put Hall into the tank. After a while he called and the turn was the {9-Spades}.

Both players checked the turn and on the river the {9-Hearts} hit. Hall checked to Ivey again who tanked for 25 seconds before deciding to check behind. Hall showed {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} and he raked in this pot as Ivey mucked his cards.

Ivey Knocks Out Polk

Level 14 : 60,000/120,000, 15,000 ante
Doug Polk
Doug Polk

From the under-the-gun plus one position it was Doug Polk who moved all in for right around 1.7 million chips. The action folded to Phil Ivey in the small blind and he asked for a count, but called before the dealer was done stacking down the chips. Tobias Reinkemeier folded from the big blind and the showdown went as following.

Ivey: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Polk: {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

The flop brought {5-Hearts}{8-Spades}{J-Clubs} and Polk hit a pair, but needed a lot more to double up. On the turn the {6-Spades} hit and nothing changed, the river was the {7-Spades} and Ivey hit a straight. Polk's hand was mucked and Ivey raked in the chips. We are now down to 16 players and there will be a full redraw for the final two tables.

A Newey Hope; Newey Doubles Through Ivey

Level 13 : 50,000/100,000, 10,000 ante
Paul Newey Doubles
Paul Newey Doubles

Phil Ivey opened to 230,000 from under the gun and it folded to Paul Newey three seats over. He announced an all in three bet for 2.38 million total and it came back around to Ivey who moved out a call.

Ivey showed {J-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} but was behind Newey's {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}. The dealer burned a card and dealt the {9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} flop, keeping Newey's ladies in the lead. The {10-Clubs} dropped down on the turn, meaning Ivey would need to catch one of the two remaining jacks to score the knockout.

The river was the {5-Spades}, sending Newey's rail into a tizzy as he scored the double up and found new life in this tournament. Newey now has about 4.8 million while Ivey has fallen to 7.59 million.
