A Gross River Card

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Action folded around to Christophe Gross on the button and he raised to 2,000, which Sasa Stancic responded to by three-betting to 6,000 from the small blind. The big folded, Gross called and both players checked the {k-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{10-Hearts} flop.

The action repeated itself on the {A-Hearts} turn and Stancic led out for 6,500 on the {9-Clubs} river. Gross called with the {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} for a rivered set, which bested the {a-Spades}{8-Diamonds} of Stancic.

Greenstein Raises River

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We arrived to find Barry Greenstein heads up with an opponent on a completed board of {6-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{Q-Spades}. With what looked to be around 26,000 already in the middle of the table, Greenstein's opponent fired out a bet of 8,700. Greenstein wasted little time coming over the top for 26,000 total, sending his opponent deep into the tank.

After about 90 seconds, Greenstein's opponent flicked his cards forward, signifying a fold. The three-time WSOP bracelet winner picked up the pot and now has about 115,000 in chips.

Voulgaris Doubles

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Action folded to Haralabos Voulgaris, who tossed in his last 15,100 in the hijack spot. Arthur Morris called out of the small blind.

Morris: {k-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Voulgaris: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

The flop brought grim news for Voulgaris: {8-Spades}{4-Hearts}{q-Clubs}, giving his opponent a pair. Voulgaris turned it around on fourth street with an {a-Diamonds}, though, and the {9-Spades} was a safe river card.

"I bled down to 15,000, that's so embarrassing," Voulgaris said with a chuckle.

Ivey Busts Another

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

There was a raise to 2,000 on the button, Phil Ivey three-bet to 6,000 out of the small blind, and the player called. The flop came {q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, Ivey fired out 8,000, and his opponent called.

Ivey bet another 16,000 on the {2-Hearts} turn, the player called, and Ivey moved all in for effectively 28,700 on the {8-Hearts} river. The player tank-called with {q-Spades}{10-Spades} for a pair of queens, but it was no good against Ivey's {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts} for a flush.

The 10-time WSOP bracelet winner now has 478,000 chips.

Phil Hellmuth and Matt Waxman saw a flop of {3-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} in a raise pot, and Hellmuth checked out of the blinds. Waxman bet 3,000, Hellmuth called, and the two players checked on the turn ({j-Spades}).

The river was the {5-Hearts}, Hellmuth led out for 2,800, and Waxman raised to 7,500. Hellmuth called.

Waxman revealed {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts} for aces and jacks, and Hellmuth mucked {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} face up.

Merrill Doubles Through Berger

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Seth Berger raised to 2,200 in the hijack, Brandon Merrill three-bet to 5,200 on his direct left, and the action folded back to Berger, who called.

The flop fell {7-Spades}{j-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}, Berger checked, and Merrill tossed out 5,100. Berger called.

The turn was the {5-Clubs}, Berger checked again, and Merrill moved all in for 21,400. Berger winced at the sight of the bet, then tanked for a minute or two before calling.

Berger: {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Merrill: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

The {9-Clubs} bricked off on the river, and Merrill doubled through.
