Yu Sends Gregorich Home

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Seven Card Stud

Ben Yu: {x-}{x-}/{9-Spades}{2-Spades}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}/{x-}
Mark Gregorich: {x-}{x-}/{5-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}/{x-}
Claude Marbleu: {x-}{x-}/{10-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{K-Spades}/{x-}

Catching the action on seventh street there was a massive pot already in the middle of the table worth over 80,000 and Mark Gregorich was all in. Ben Yu was heads up against Claude Marbleu for a 20,000 chip side pot. On seventh, Yu bet and Marbleu thought for a good while before finally mucking his hand.

Yu then showed his {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Diamonds} for two pair. Gregorich also had two pair, but it was a worse two pair, showing his {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}, so he was sent to the payout desk to collect his prize.

Hildebrand With the Nut-Nut

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Omaha Hi-Lo

Per Hildebrand opened under the gun with a raise and action folded around to the big blind where Valentin Vornicu called.

The flop was {10-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{3-Spades} and Vornicu checked then called a bet from Hildebrand.

On the {9-Spades} turn, Vornicu check-called another bet from Hildebrand, and he check-called one more on the {7-Diamonds} river. Hildebrand turned up his {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for the nut flush and the nut low and he scooped the pot. For good measure, Vornicu did show his {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for a set and a worse low.

Soulier Nearly Doubles While Eliminating Droeger

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Limit Hold'em

David Droeger opened from under the gun and action folded around to the big blind where Fabrice Soulier thought for a bit before calling.

The flop was {Q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and Soulier checked. Droeger bet then Soulier raised. Droeger went all in for a bit more and Soulier called.

Fabrice Soulier: {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}
David Droeger: {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}

The turn was the {7-Clubs} which gave Soulier more outs to a flush and the river was the {J-Hearts}, giving Soulier two pair and eliminating Droeger from the tournament. Soulier had just a bit more than Droeger so he earned a near double in the hand.

Aaron Schaff

No-Limit Hold'em

(Betting details told to us by Nicholas Seiken)

Aaron Schaff raised from the cutoff and Devin Looney defended his big blind.

The flop came down {Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Looney checked to Schaff who continued for 7,000. Looney check-raised to 20,000, Schaff called and the turn was the {10-Diamonds}. Looney check-called 25,000 from Schaff, and the {Q-Spades} river completed the board. Looney checked and Shaff bet about 50,000. Looney tanked for a while, and after the clock was called, he dropped in calling chips.

Schaff tabled {K-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for a king-high straight, Looney mucked, and Schaff won the pot.

Vornicu Gets It All Back and More in a Massive Stud Hi-Lo Pot

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Stud Hi-Lo

Valentin Vornicu: {x-}{x-}/{6-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}/{x-}
Kevin Malis: {x-}{x-}/{A-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Spades}{Q-Clubs}/{x-}
Scott Horowitz: {x-}{x-}/{10-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{K-Spades}{A-Diamonds}/{x-}

Action kicked off with Valentin Vornicu completing the bet. Scott Horowitz then made it two bets before Kevin Malis made it three bets. Vornicu and Horowitz both called.

Malis had the lead on fourth and bet and both players called. Malis bet again with the lead on fifth and both players called. On sixth, all three players checked for seventh street. There, action checked to Vornicu who bet, leaving himself just a bit behind. Horowitz quickly called and Malis dropped into the tank.

"There's no shame in folding," Vornicu said to Malis.

"I just have zero idea," Malis said. "If I fold a winner here, I'm just going to quit."

"Like, poker forever? Or just this tournament," Andrew Kelsall joked from a few seats over at the same table.

"Alright, fuck it," Malis said, slamming in the chips to call.

"Straight an a low," Vornicu said, showing {7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. Malis mucked quickly, but Horowitz held onto his cards, shook his head, then mucked shortly after. "Pleasure doing business with you boys," said Vornicu, raking in the pot worth nearly 100,000 chips.
