Grospellier Taking Hits

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante

Bertrand Grospellier's stack has plummeted to just 35,000 after he lost two big hands in the last round.

The first saw him three-bet over Stephen Rivers' raise and Rivers made it four bets. Grospellier called and fired on fourth when his board improved to ace-king suited. Rivers, however, raised and Grospellier called. Rivers then fired on fifth and sixth, earning two more calls before they both knuckled on the final round. Rivers opened aces up and took the pot.

Grospellier: {X-}{X-} / {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs} / {X-}
Rivers: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds} / {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{3-Hearts} / {10-Hearts}

The second hand saw Paul Sexton complete and Grospellier called. Chris Ferguson then raised and both Sexton and Grospellier stuck around. Sexton left the party when he hit an ugly five on fourth street but Grospellier took the betting lead with sevens out. Ferguson called and Grospellier barreled on the next round. Ferguson opted to raise and Grospellier reluctantly called. He called again on sixth but couldn't pull one final call on the river and Ferguson scooped the pot without showing.

Sexton: {X-}{X-} / {Q-}{5-} - fold
Grospellier: {X-}{X-} / {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{A-Spades} / {X-} - fold
Ferguson: {X-}{X-} / {9-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Clubs} / {X-}
