Four Former Bracelet Winners Among 36 Survivors After Day 2 in Event #4: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better

Level 20 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

After the field of 911 entries in the 2018 World Series of Poker Event #4: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better had been cut down to 296 hopefuls in the first 10 levels of the tournament, the second day narrowed down the contenders for the top prize of $239,771 and the elusive gold bracelet to just 36.

All Day 2 survivors have $5,605 locked up for their efforts and Brandon Ageloff secured the top spot with a stack of 555,000. The American already has one WSOP final table appearance to his name after finishing third in Event #52: $ 1,500 No Limit Hold'em at the 2017 WSOP for a career-best score of $161,844. Matt Woodward is the only other player with more than half a million in chips and will return for Day 3 with 505,000.

Four former WSOP bracelet winners are still in contention for another shot at glory at the Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas: Chris Bjorin (488,000), Mike Wattel (262,000), Mike Leah (99,000) and Jason Lester (95,000) navigated through the minefield of money day, which left more than half of the returning field without anything to show for all their hard work.

Other notables through to Day 3 include Chad Eveslage (364,000), Jeff Shulman (291,000), Daniel Buzgon (173,000), Kate Hoang (167,000), Julien Martini (140,000), James Chen (110,000), Danny Wong (76,000) and 2016 WSOP Main Event 8th place finisher Jerry "HumLun" Wong (48,000).

Action of the Day:

Plenty of notables had made it through the day but failed to reach the money such as Layne Flack, Matt Waxman, Jeff Madsen, Sebastian Langrock, Frank Kassela, Ashton Griffin, Jeremy Ausmus, Justin Liberto, Mike Matusow, Christopher Vitch, Chris Klodnicki and Scott Clements.

Just before the money bubble, Monty Dennis busted despite getting it in with a better two pair, a flush draw and the nut low draw as Pamela McPeak's inferior two pair improved to an unlikely full house. Not even five minutes later, several other players had busted and no hand-for-hand was required. The last player to leave empty-handed was Benjamin Scholl, who held two pair and saw his low draw get counterfeited against the better two pair of Denny Axel.

The floodgates were opened right there and many notables soon headed to the rail such as Ryan Laplante, Chris Tryba, David "Bakes" Baker, Daniel Weinman, Mark Gregorich, Robert Mizrachi and John Racener. Day 1 chip leader Dao Bac had to settle for 81st place and Allen Kessler also received $2,823 for his 75th place finish.

Benny Glaser
Three-Time WSOP Champion Benny Glaser

John Monnette ran out of chips in a three-way pot against Perry Friedman and Victor Ramdin, while 3-time WSOP bracelet winner and the 2016 champion of this very event, Benny Glaser, followed soon after. Glaser was left short in a battle with Shaun Deeb and got it in with a set only for Rylen Sanehisa to river a wheel and scoop the entire pot. Friedman (54th place) and Deeb (44th place) were among the late victims before a rush at the end of the night also saw Peter Eichhardt and Ramdin depart.

The action will resume at 2 p.m. local time on Saturday, June 2nd, 2018, with level 21 and blinds of 5,000/10,000. With the big bet at 10,000, the action is expected to escalate early on, whether or not the tournament will play down to a champion on Day 3 or requires an additional day remains to be seen. The final table is set to be streamed on the Twitch Channel of PokerGo.

Ramdin Busts to King-Seven High

Level 20 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Victor Ramdin
Victor Ramdin

Peter Eichhardt ran out of chips and so did Victor Ramdin and Tommy Chen in the final hand of the night on their respective tables.

Ramdin had chopped in the penultimate hand and then raised the small blind, Christopher Roth called in the big blind, admitting he had a "really bad hand."

On the {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop, Ramdin bet, got raised and moved all in, both short stacks ended up tabling their cards.

Victor Ramdin: {6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}
Christopher Roth: {K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades}

"What, you don't even have a pair yet? High cards please," Roth demanded while Ramdin had enormous outs to get there. However, both the {9-Diamonds} turn and the {J-Diamonds} river bricked off and Roth won the hand with king-seven high!

There will be 36 players remaining when the action resumes on Day 3.

Ramdin and Roth Fade Elimination

Level 20 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Victor Ramdin
Victor Ramdin

Victor Ramdin was all-in for his last 14,000 on the button, Christopher Roth shoved all in for 31,000 in the small blind and Mike Wattel called in the big blind to put them both at risk.

Victor Ramdin: {K-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Christopher Roth: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}
Mike Wattel: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{J-Spades}{9-Hearts}

The dealer fanned out {10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades}{J-Clubs}. Roth flopped a set of fours for the high hand, Ramdin was the only player with a qualifying low and both all-ins stayed in.

Miracle Time for Yoroi

Level 20 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Itsuko Yoroi
Itsuko Yoroi

Shaun Deeb was left with crumbs after he could not beat Brandon Ageloff's {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{8-Clubs} on a board of {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{3-Spades}.

Next up it was Itsuko Yoroi that ended up all in and faced Joseph Brodsky and Tuvya Felt. The latter had been down to 10,000 but won the side pot against Brodsky on a board of {K-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{5-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}. Felt tabled {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{3-Spades}, Yoroi flipped over {Q-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for the wheel.

Right after that, Shaun Deeb was felted and headed to the payout desk.

Julien Martini's stack was hurt considerably in a three-way pot against Chad Eveslage and Mike Wattel. Wattel had raised, Martini three-bet and Eveslage, as well as Wattel, called. On the {J-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} flop, action checked to Martini and he bet before doing so again on all further streets on the {4-Hearts} turn and {6-Spades} river.

Eveslage showed {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for jacks up and Wattel claimed the low portion of the pot with {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{2-Clubs}.

Chops and Quarters, but no Bustouts

Level 20 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Kate Hoang
Kate Hoang

One of the fun parts of Omaha Hi-Lo is being able to keep hanging around with a short stack. In a series of hands, all the escape hatches were used that kept each of the players involved in the tournament.

First, it was Kate Hoang who was all-in and at risk against Robert Campbell. The board ran out {K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{7-Spades} and Campbell showed {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} for the nut flush and nut low. Hoang had {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and got three-quartered to remain behind with 30,000.

The next hand, Hoang chopped an all-in. In the subsequent hand, Pete Rasmussen raised all in for 11,000 on the button, which didn't count as a raise. Danny Tang made it two bets in the small blind and Hoang called in the big blind.

The flop was {2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{J-Clubs} and the rest of Tang's small stack went in as well.

Pete Rasmussen: {K-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}
Kate Hoang: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}
Danny Wong: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{8-Spades}

The turn was the {A-Clubs} and the river the {8-Hearts} to keep everyone around. Shortest stack Rasmussen scooped the main pot with the wheel, while Hoang and Wong chopped the side pot.

Hunt Busts to Shulman's "Nut Nut"

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante
Jeff Shulman
Jeff Shulman

The next players to fall included William Brock, Nick Polydoros, Thomas Hunt and Danny Mangra. Not long ago, Mangra was holding a stack well above the average but all the chips since vanished.

As for Hunt, he was all in against Matt Woodward in the cutoff and Jeff Shulman in the big blind. Shulman bet the {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{2-Clubs}{6-Hearts} turn and the {7-Hearts} river. Woodward called both bets and was then shown {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} for the "nut nut" by Shulman, the nut straight and the nut low.

Hunt could only reveal {A-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and Woodward stood no chance at earning a portion of the pot either with his {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{3-Spades}.

No Second Bracelet for Friedman

Perry Friedman

Back in 2002, Perry Friedman stood tall in this very event, making him the second past winner besides Benny Glaser (2016) to make another deep run. Friedman held $949,899 in lifetime winnings before this event and will creep closer to the 1M mark after cashing.

Already severely short stacked, Friedman lost his final chips to Mike Wattel and the bow-tied man exited in 53rd place ($4,046).

Glaser Eliminated by Sanehisa

Benny Glaser
Benny Glaser

Soon after he was left with crumbs in a big pot against Shaun Deeb, Benny Glaser defended his big blind against the cutoff raise by Rylen Sanehisa. Glaser bet the {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop and then moved all in after the {Q-Diamonds} turn, Sanehisa called.

Benny Glaser: {7-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs} for a set of fives and a low draw
Rylen Sanehisa: {A-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for top pair, straight draw and nut low draw

"Low cards please," Sanehisa demanded and got his wish granted as the {4-Hearts} on the river improved Sanehisa to the wheel and sent the 2016 champion of this very event to the rail.

John Monnette had been all in and at risk with Perry Friedman and Victor Ramdin still to act.

Davis and Chen Chop Up Deeb

Level 18 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante
Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb

After some substantial preflop action, four players saw the {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop appear. Raymond Davis bet, Shaun Deeb made it two bets, John Jenkins called in middle position, James Chen called on the button, and Davis called as well.

David checked the {4-Clubs} turn, Deeb bet, Jenkins folded, Chen called, and Davis called. On the {6-Diamonds} river, David bet out. Deeb thought around thirty seconds before calling, and Chen took around ten seconds before making the overcall.

Davis showed {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{5-Hearts} for the nut flush to claim the high hand. Chen tabled {A-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and won the low. Deeb mucked his hand. Davis and Deeb exchanged some unpleasantries after the hand.
