Goatz Busts But Splits the Money

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante
Phil Goatz
Phil Goatz

In the first round of hand-for-hand, there were two all-ins and calls, as Phil Goatz exited, but split the money.

Goatz had all his chips in the middle with pocket kings on a {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}{2-Spades} board and was called by his opponent who held {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}.
The turn {2-Diamonds} and river {6-Diamonds} was no help for Goatz who exited the event.

But there was some luck for Goatz as at the same time, another player on a different table was all in with {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts} on a queen-high board only to see his opponent call with pocket queens, which ended in another elimination.

As the two eliminations happened in the same hand on different tables, Goatz and the other eliminated player chop the 90th place prize of $2,246, for $1,123 each.

Scheibner Downs Clinkscales

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante
Rex Clinkscales
Rex Clinkscales

Gary Garibyan raised from early position, and Lloyd Scheibner called in middle position. Rex Clinkscales, in the next seat along, three-bet and left himself with just 2,600 behind. The player on the button cold-called, as Garibyan and Scheibner, also came along to see the {7-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} flop.

Garibyan checked, Scheibner bet, and Clinkscales called, which left him with just a single 100 chip to play with. The player on the button folded and Garibyan made the call to send the hand three-way to the {2-Diamonds} turn.

Garibyan checked again, Scheibner continued with a bet, and Clinkscales put his final chip into the pot. Garibyan got out the way, and they went to showdown.

Lloyd Scheibner: {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Rex Clinkscales: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

River: {7-Hearts}

Scheibner was ahead with top two pair and the river changed nothing as WSOP ring winner Clinkscales, who came into the day second in chips and had built his stack up well in the early proceedings, was eliminated at the start of level 15 for a payout worth $2,336.

House-Over-House Elimination; Song Among the Big Stacks

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Philip Tom
Philip Tom

The players have got right back into the action after the dinner break, and it was a very unfortunate time for Philip Tom.

Tom raised from early position and one player called before Kevin Song in the blinds can along as well.

The flop came down {j-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}, and Song bet out for 4,000. Tom raised to 8,000 and the third player called. Song three-bet, Tom four-bet, and the other player got out of the way. In the end, Song and Tom got their chips in the middle.

Philip Tom: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Kevin Song: {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

The {j-Hearts} hit the turn and the {q-Hearts} completed the board, making Song runner-runner higher full house. Another bracelet winner has left the tournament, Philip Tom out in 46th place for $3,010.

Trips For Vollick

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Brian Vollick
Brian Vollick

Brian Vollick raised from middle position and Benjamin Lazer three-bet in the big blind. Vollick made the call, and they saw a {7-Clubs}{4-Spades}{8-Clubs} flop. Vollick called a bet from Lazer, and the latter continued to bet on the {7-Spades} turn. Vollick raised and was met by a call before Lazer checked to Vollick on the {2-Clubs} river.

Vollick continued his aggression and fired another bet, and once again he was called. Vollick tabled {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for trip sevens, and Lazer mucked, to be left with a 21,000 short stack.

Start of day chip leader Vollick continues to rise and is now sat with 195,000.

Heartberg Sends Needleman to the Rail

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
Daniel Needleman
Daniel Needleman

The flop read {4-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{7-Hearts} when Daniel Needleman had all his chip in the middle, except one 500 chip. Jeremy Heartberg was his opponent and bet the {j-Spades} turn to put Needleman all-in to which he obliged.

Jeremy Heartberg: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Daniel Needleman: {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

River: {2-Spades}

Heartberg was ahead on the flop with the jacks overpair and all but consolidated Needleman's fate when he hit a set on the turn. The river could not save Needleman, and he exited the tournament for a $3,422 payday.
