Calderaro Takes Another

Level 25 : 40,000/80,000, 0 ante
James Calderaro
James Calderaro

In a three-way limped pot, the flop showed {9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{4-Spades} and Scotty Nguyen bet to force out Bogdan Capitan and Jason Koon. The former was left with just 540,000 and forfeited the small blind the next hand.

Then Shaun Deeb limped in and James Calderaro checked in the big blind. The {A-Spades}{8-Spades}{6-Diamonds} flop was checked and Deeb bet the {6-Spades} turn for 80,000. Calderaro called. On the {A-Diamonds} river, Deeb bet 80,000 again and Calderaro called with a "are you kidding me?"

Deeb announced trips and Calderaro won the pot with {K-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Spades} for a flush.

Jonathan Depa Eliminated in 9th Place ($96,214)

Level 25 : 40,000/80,000, 0 ante
Jonathan Depa
Jonathan Depa

James Calderaro raised it up from middle position and Jonathan Depa called from the big blind. The flop fell {j-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and both players checked to see the {7-Hearts} on the turn.

Depa checked again and Calderaro tossed in a bet of 275,000. Depa thought for a minute and then pushed in a check-raise to 620,000. Calderaro wasn't happy about it, but he made the call anyway.

The {8-Diamonds} on the river completed the board and Depa moved all in. Calderaro instantly called and Depa turned over {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{4-Clubs} for a missed flush draw and two pair. Calderaro tabled {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for a missed flush draw as well but held a bigger two pair with pocket aces.

The official final table of eight is now set and with two more eliminations today, play will be halted with six players remaining.

George Wolff Eliminated in 10th Place ($96,214)

Level 25 : 40,000/80,000, 0 ante
George Wolff
George Wolff

Down to around 300,000, George Wolff raised it up from the small blind and Ben Yu three-bet enough to put him all in from the big blind. Wolff called.

George Wolff: {Q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Ben Yu: {J-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Spades}

Yu barely watched the showdown while checking a hand of the Online Bracelet event on his laptop at the same time and the flop came {K-Spades}{9-Clubs}{6-Spades} to give Yu plenty of outs. On the {9-Hearts} turn, Yu improved to trips nines and the {A-Clubs} river was a blank for Wolff.

Wolff has been eliminated in 10th place and takes home $96,214 for his efforts. The remaining nine players will now combine for the nine-handed unofficial final table. Day 3 will conclude when 10 levels of 60 minutes have been completed or six players remain, whichever of the two comes first.

Nguyen Takes From Capitan

Level 25 : 40,000/80,000, 0 ante

Scotty Nguyen raised to 230,000 in the cutoff and Bogdan Capitan called in the big blind. On the {J-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop, both players checked and Capitan also checked the {6-Clubs} on the turn. Nguyen bet 250,000 and Capitan called.

The {8-Spades} fell on the river and Capitan checked once more. Nguyen made it 375,000 and Capitan gave it plenty of consideration before eventually calling.

"Straight," Nguyen announced and rolled over the {A-Spades}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}.

"That's my hi-lo hand, Scotty. Hi-lo is in four days," David Benyamine joked.

Veselin Karakitukov
Veselin Karakitukov

James Calderaro opened to 200,000 from under the gun and Veselin Karakitukov defended from the big blind. The flop came {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades} and both players checked to the {j-Clubs} on the turn.

Karakitukov led out for 190,000 and Calderaro stuck around to see the {4-Clubs} on the river. Karakitukov checked this time and Calderaro announced a pot-sized bet. Karakitukov was put to the test for his last 515,000 and he tanked for over two minutes. Karakitukov eventually made the call and tabled {q-Spades}{8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} for a set of eights. Calderaro showed {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades} for the nut flush and Karakitukov was eliminated in 11th place.

"Three Pair, Baby"

Level 25 : 40,000/80,000, 0 ante

David Benyamine min-raised to 160,000 from the cutoff and was called by Scotty Nguyen on the button and Ben Yu in the big blind. On the {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop, action checked to Nguyen and he bet 150,000. Only Yu called. The {4-Hearts} turn and {J-Spades} river were checked and Nguyen announced "three pair, baby" before turning over his {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}. That ended up winning the pot as Yu mucked.

One hand later, Wolff limped the button and Yu raised the pot in the small blind for 240,000, Wolff called. Yu bet the {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} flop for 225,000 and Wolff sent his cards into the muck.
