Hawkins Shows Aces

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Maurice Hawkins raised to 2,600 from middle position and it folded to the player in the big blind who thought it over for about 20 seconds. Eventually his opponent slid her hand into the muck and Hawkins flashed his {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}.

"I only had aces" this time he said as he pulled in the pot and stacked his chips.

Foutty Takes From Lakhov

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

In a hand that played out across all the streets, it was Alexander Lakhov who kicked off the betting with an open to 2,100. Only Stephen Foutty decided he wanted to get involved, calling behind.

The flop came a dry {4-Spades}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts} and Lakhov continued for 2,400. The turn was a {2-Hearts} and this time Lakhov opted to check. Foutty made it 6,000 and Lakhov came along.

Finally, the {4-Diamonds} completed the river. Lakhov checked again and Foutty thought for a minute before setting the price at 19,700. It was an instant call from Lakhov but he mucked when he saw the Foutty's rivered trips with {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}.

No Time Off For Dylan Linde

Dylan Linde
Dylan Linde

Just hours ago Dylan Linde was on the stage here in the BRASILIA room at the Event #39: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout final table. Linde was eventually eliminated in 4th place for $76,829 when he ran his {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} into the {k-Spades}{k-Hearts} of Corey Dodd.

Linde jumped straight from the stage right into the Event #43: $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em field. He wasted no time putting his starting stack to work and has continued to climb the chip counts.

Linde is now sitting behind one of the largest stacks in the room with 95,000 and will look to finish strong as we approach the last level of Day 1 play.

Ferguson Wins a Flip

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

It began with a min-raise to 1,600 by Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson in middle position. It folded round to the button, who moved all in. After everyone else moved aside, Ferguson asked for a count, then called 18,900 total.

Chris Ferguson {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Opponent {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}

It was a classic flip as the pair headed into the flop. The {10-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{2-Hearts} board was good for the jacks and Ferguson needed an ace or a king to win the hand.

The turn was an {a-Diamonds}, which gave Ferguson the lead and the {8-Diamonds} river locked up the pot.

Gross Makes the Call on the River

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

There was {7-Spades}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} already out and Jeff Gross checked to his opponent, who made it 11,000 to get to showdown.

"I'm probably gonna call", said Gross "as I think you have a hand like eights". He didn't keep the table waiting, calling soon after and the players turned over their cards.

Jeff Gross {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Opponent {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

It was the right call and Gross took the pot.

Schmedeke Wins the Flip

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

The under the gun player moved all in for 9,200 and it folded to Harlon Schmedeke in the big blind. Schmedeke called and they turned over the hands.

Harlon Schmedeke: {k-Spades}{10-Spades}
Under the Gun: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}

The dealer spread the {7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop and it was no help to Schmedeke. The turn was the {q-Spades} and Schhmedeke picked up a flush draw to go along with his over cards. The {k-Hearts} hit the river and Schmedeke paired his king on the river to take the pot and eliminate his opponent.
