Ferrera Doubles Then Loses With Aces

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Two huge hands have just taken place at Table #512 with Steve Rassi coming out with the best of it.

In the first hand, Keith Ferrera raised from under the gun to 4,000. Steve Rassi called in middle position and Ben Jackson three-bet to 15,700 from the big blind. Ferrera then moved all in for 42,100 and Rassi had to think about his decision before he folded. Jackson made the call, and it was a classic race.

Keith Ferrera: {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Ben Jackson: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

Board: {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}

Ferrera held with pocket queens and secured a full double-up to 85,000. But his stack took an immediate dent in the next hand.

In that one, Rassi moved all in from middle position and the player on the button reshoved. Ferrera, in the big blind, had them both covered and made the call.

Keith Ferrera: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}
Steve Rassi: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Button All-in Player: {a-}{k-}

Board: {q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{q-Spades}

Ferrera was a big preflop favorite and set to score a double-elimination, but Rassi took the lead on the turn after he hit the only king left in the deck much to his surprise and held to win the main pot. Ferrera took the side pot as the other all-in player was eliminated, and Rassi, who started the day with just nine big blinds, has now moved up to 86,000.

Ferrera has since been able to chip back up to 120,000.

The board read {9-Hearts}{2-Spades}{10-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and Annette Obrestad had {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} in front of her for a set. The dealer was double-checking one player's stack to confirm Obrestad had both of her opponents covered, which she did.

Two open seat cards were placed on the table as Oberstad pulled in the pot and rebuilt her new 182,000-chip stack.
