Karmatakii Sends Lisawad to the Rail

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Andrew Graham opened to 15,000 from the hijack and Pakinai Lisawad moved his short stack of 87,000 into the middle on the button. Arsenii Karmatakii was in the big blind and thought for a minute before making the call. Graham got out of the way and the two hands were face up.

Arsenii Karmatakii: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Pakinai Lisawad: {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

The flop fell {j-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and Karmatakii flopped a set of jacks to leave Lisawad drawing slim. The turn brought the {9-Hearts} to give Lisawad a straight draw, but the {5-Clubs} on the river bricked off.

Loosli Gets Paid off on the River

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Sylvain Loosli
Sylvain Loosli

Picking up the action on the turn with the board reading {7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}, Andre Akkari checked to Sylvain Loosli who bet 42,000 into a pot of around 65,000. Akkari made the call and the {5-Spades} completed the board.

Akkari checked again and Loosli jammed all in for 103,500. Akkari asked for a count and thought for a minute before tossing in a chip to signify a call. Loosli flipped over {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds} while Akkari only had {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}. Loosli scored the double up and Akkari took the first hit to his stack in quite some time.

Mackey and Obreshkov Get Tangled Up

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Stoyan Obreshkov opened from under the gun and James Mackey defended from the big blind.

It fell {9-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{3-Spades} on the flop and Mackey checked to Obreshkov. The Bulgarian continued for 11,000 and Mackey upped it to 35,000, which Obreshkov called. The turn was the {5-Clubs} and Mackey barreled for 66,000. After some consideration, Obreshkov called again.

A {10-Clubs} came down on the river and Mackey moved all-in, which was enough to cover his opponent. Obreshov had 137,000 behind and tanked for a couple of minutes before folding. "Big fold, my friend", said Obreshov.

Guerrero Spikes a Jack to Double Up

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

After a few preflop raises, Jimmy Guerrero was all in from the big blind for 190,500. Greg Merson folded on the button and Arthur Morris snap-called from the small blind.

Jimmy Guerrero: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Arthur Morris: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

The flop came {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and Guerrero was still in rough shape to keep his tournament hopes alive. However, the {j-Hearts} on the turn brought some noise out of the Frenchman as he just took the lead. The {q-Clubs} on the river barely missed Morris and Guerrero was awarded the double up.

Karlin Gets One Through

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Marvin Karlin has already notched up an impressive $250,000 in tournament winnings and has six WSOP cashes under his belt. So far though, this tournament has won him double that of any of his other series' cashes. The question is, how much more will he be able to improve on that?

He has just survived an all-in that still keeps him in contention. He raised all in over the top of a button open by Stefan Huber and a call from Justin Adams and got it through. Every little bit helps.

Finger Tussles with Lewis

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Martin Finger
Martin Finger

Romain Lewis raised it up to 11,000 from the hijack and Martin Finger reraised to 33,000 on the button. The blinds folded and Lewis called to see a flop of {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}{5-Clubs}. Lewis check-called a bet of 25,000 from Finger and the {a-Clubs} rolled off on the turn.

Lewis checked again and Finger threw in another bet of 60,000. Lewis stuck around to see the {6-Clubs} on the river and then checked for the third time. Finger jammed all in for around 240,000, putting the pressure back on Lewis. He thought for a minute while Finger maintained a steady pose. Lewis flashed the {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} before they hit the muck and asked Finger to show the bluff. Finger smiled and slid his cards face down as he dragged in the pot.
