Brandon Shack-Harris
Brandon Shack-Harris

Multiple players limped into a pot preflop including Dan Shak, Brandon Shack-Harris, and Esther Taylor.

Each of the players checked on the {10-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop to the {8-Diamonds} on the turn. There, action checked to Taylor on the button who bet 1,500. The small blind called as did Shak and Shack-Harris.

On the {3-Clubs} river, everyone checked again. Shak showed his {A-Spades}{6-Spades}{A-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and that was good to earn him the pot.

"I was waiting for Shack to get out of line preflop," Shak said after the hand.

"Which Shak?" Eric Rodawig joked.

"Yeah which Shak gets more out of line?" Esther Taylor asked.

"How come there's no 'ODS'?" Robert Campbell asked. "Original Dan Shak."

"You know his name's not Dan, right?" Taylor said.

"Yeah but he could be BranDAN Shack-Harris," Campbell responded.

This prompted a series of laughs from the table as they came up with more celebrity couple name mashups for Brandon Shack-Harris and Dan Shak.

Ohel Gets Quartered in a Small One

Level 6 : 300/600, 0 ante

A player opened in early position with a raise to 1,500. Randy Ohel called as the next player to act and Leif Force called from the big blind as well.

The flop was {5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades} and action checked through to the {Q-Hearts} on the turn. Force checked again. The original raiser bet 1,500 and Ohel called while Force folded from the blinds.

The river was the {7-Clubs} and both players checked. The original raiser showed {A-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} for a pair of queens and ace-six for low but Ohel had {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}{J-Hearts}{6-Spades} for the same low which would leave him quartered in this pot.

Nitty River Check for Allen Kessler

Level 5 : 250/500, 0 ante

With a board of {K-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} on the table, Allen Kessler and Daniel Negreanu each had 2,500 in front of them. Negreanu checked to Kessler on the turn and Kessler bet 2,500. Negreanu called.

On the {6-Diamonds}, Negreanu checked and Kessler checked as well. Kessler showed his {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for three kings and Negreanu mucked. Immediately after the hand, some of the players at the table joked with Kessler for making a "nitty" check on the river.

"He's only going to call me if he has a full house," Kessler said, defending his check. "It's hard to shift gears between the different games sometimes."

In a four-way limped pot on a {10-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{8-Clubs} board, James Chen, Andrew Kelsall, and Eli Elezra checked to the button who bet 1,000. Elezra was the only caller.

The turn was the {3-Hearts} and both players checked. The river was the {j-Diamonds} and Elezra quickly bet 3,000.

"Call," implored Elezra, "and I show you the bluff." Eventually, his opponent folded.

"Quit wasting our time!" said Elezra jovially, showing {10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades}{2-Spades} for a straight and the third-nut low.

Cantu Drops One

Level 5 : 250/500, 0 ante

Brandon Cantu opened under the gun with a raise to 1,300 and he was called by just the big blind.

The flop was {J-Hearts}{10-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and both players checked to the {4-Hearts} on the turn. There, the big blind led out with a bet of 2,200 which Cantu called.

Both players checked again on the {9-Clubs} river and the big blind showed down his {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} for a jack-high straight and Cantu waited for a few seconds before mucking his hand and sending the pot over.
