Staats Doubles Through Corvino

Level 27 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Christopher Staats raised from the cutoff and snap-called the all-in shove from William Corvino on the button after the blinds folded with a total stack worth 1,365,000.

Holding {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts} for Staats against {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} for Corvino, Staats had to win the flip to survive, which he did after the board fell {10-Spades}{4-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{q-Spades}.

Corvino Sent to the Rail

Level 27 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

William Corvino fell to a short stack of 120,000 chips left, pushed everything in the middle, and Kyle Keranen reshoved in the small blind.

Holding {k-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, Corvino was in bad shape for a double-up, facing {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} in Keranen's hand. The flop {3-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs} brought some hopes to Corvino, but the rest of the board fell {8-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, eliminating him from the tournament.

Fast Gets Some Value

Level 27 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Sung Joo Hyun opened to 90,000 and it folded to Dietrich Fast in the big blind who called.

The flop came {j-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and Fast check-called another bet for 80,000 from Hyun. On the turn {5-Spades}, Fast tanked for some time before leading a bet worth 150,000. Hyun quickly called.

Hyun Finds Two Pair on Taneja

Level 27 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Sanjay Taneja opened in the cutoff to 100,000 and, after some thought, Sung Joo Hyun raised it to 255,000 on the button. It came back to Taneja who made the call.

The flop showed {k-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and things heated up after Taneja first checked before facing a bet for 190,000 from Hyun. Taneja moved all in for a remaining stack worth 1,100,000 and Hyun snap-called, showing {k-Hearts}{10-Spades} for two pair. Taneja, holding {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}, was in desperate shape to double up and the {8-Spades}{5-Diamonds} turn and river brought him no help.
