Minkin Sends One Out

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Kelly Minkin
Kelly Minkin

The player on the cutoff opened to 2,200. Kelly Minkin, on the button, called, along with the big blind.

The flop came {9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{j-Hearts}. The big blind and the cutoff checked. Minkin bet 5,000. The big blind check-raised all in for around 15,000. Minkin snap-called.

Kelly Minkin: {9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Opponent: {q-Clubs}{3-Clubs}

The {5-Spades} turn and {q-Diamonds} river completed the board and Minkin's straight awarded her the pot.

Anderson Loses Some

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

There were about 10,000 chips in the pot and the board read {4-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{K-Spades} when we got to the table. Calvin Anderson was in the cutoff and heads-up against a player in early position, who checked. Anderson bet 5,000 and his opponent called.

The {K-Clubs} fell on the river and both players checked. Anderson's opponent showed {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} and his hand was good enough to win the pot.

Mermelstein Stacks Two

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

The action was complete and three players were all-in when we got to the table: Loni Harwood in the big blind, Aaron Mermelstein, in early position, and a third player in the cutoff. Mermelstein had the largest stack by a wide margin.

Loni Harwood: {A-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Aaron Mermelstein: {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Cutoff: {10-Spades}{8-Spades}

Harwood and Mermelstein were tied for the lead, but that changed when the flop came {K-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts} to give Mermelstein the nut-flush draw. The {4-Diamonds} on the turn was no help to anyone but the {10-Hearts} river meant the entire pot belonged to Mermelstein.

Joao Vieira
Joao Vieira

The player in the hijack opened to 3,200. Joao Vieira, on the button, three-bet shoved for 26,200. The small blind made the call. The original raiser folded.

Joao Vieira: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Opponent: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

The board ran {4-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{3-Spades}{k-Hearts} and Vieira doubled up.

Friedman Doubles

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Perry Friedman earlier this summer
Perry Friedman earlier this summer

The action was complete, the cards were on their backs, and the full {K-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{8-Hearts} board was out when we got to the table. Perry Friedman had {A-Diamonds}{8-Spades} face-up in front of him and his opponent was showing {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}. Friedman told us that he'd opened to 2,600 preflop, his opponent three-bet to 8,000, Friedman shoved, and his opponent called to put him at risk. They tabled their hands and although Friedman saw that his ace was dominated, he hit his eight on the river for the double-up.
