Jack in the Box for Ivey

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

A massive pot was brewing between Phil Ivey and Simeon Naydenov on his left. The board read {7-Spades}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{4-Spades} and the two players got all of their chips in the middle on the river, with Ivey being the player at risk for 365,000.

Ivey turned over {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for jacks full of threes while Naydenov held {7-}{7-} for sevens full of threes. Ivey was lucky to hit a jack on the turn and it earned him a full double up to over 800,000 chips as the money bubble looms.

Perry Applies Pressure

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

When we got to the table, the player in the cutoff had already committed 120,000 chips to the pot and was facing a decision for the approximately 188,000 he had remaining, as Ralph Perry had shoved from the button with a covering stack.

The cutoff went into the tank for over five minutes and the clock was ultimately called. Tournament staff gave him 30 seconds to act on his hand. As the final seconds ticked away, he still had not acted, and only tossed his cards into the muck when the clock ran out.

Obreshkov Gets Talked Out of a Bet

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Stoyan Obreshkov raised to 10,500 from the under-the-gun position and action folded to the player in the cutoff who three-bet to 28,500. Nobody called so Obreshkov was up for the decision. Obreshkov looked at his opponent and called.

The flop came {3-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and Obreshkov check-called the 19,000 continuation-bet of his opponent.

They both checked through the {q-Spades} on the turn to the {6-Clubs} on the river to complete the board. Obreshkov tanked.

After a while, they started talking to each other.

"How much do I need to bet for you to fold?" Obreshkov's opponent asked him.

"The action is on me, right?" Obreshkov said with a smile. "How much do I need to bet to make you call?"

"No, I am wondering how much I need to bet to make you fold?" Obreshkov's opponent said again.

Obreshkov just nodded and smiled and then checked. So did his opponent. The cutoff showed {q-Clubs}{5-Spades} for the turned pair of queens.

"I should not have talked, should have just let you bet..." Obreshkov's opponent said.

De Graff Doubles Near the Bubble

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

With 1,201 players remaining according to the screens, Brent Hanks called a raise to 12,000 and Jiayu Ruan raised it up to 50,000. Johan De Graaff in the small blind moved all in for 127,000 and Hanks asked for a count, but ended up folding, as had the initial raiser prior. Ruan called and the cards were turned over.

Johan De Graff: {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}
Jiayu Ruan: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}

The board came {7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and De Graff locked up the double on the turn already, while Ruan had to forfeit more than one third of his stack.

Duhamel Gets a River Fold

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Jonathan Duhamel
Jonathan Duhamel

With about 30,000 chips in the pot and the board reading {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}, the player in the big blind checked, the under-the-gun player bet 13,000, Jonathan Duhamel called next to act, and the big blind folded.

The {Q-Clubs} hit the turn and Duhamel's opponent checked. Duhamel bet 35,000 and his opponent called.

The river brought the {4-Diamonds} and the under-the-gun player checked. Duhamel bet again, 130,000 this time. His opponent folded and Duhamel took the pot.

Beylin Gets Big Before the Bubble

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

The cards were all but rushed away and the nine seat on table 446 was vacated while Konstantin Beylin was busy stacking a lot of orange T-5,000 chips. In a battle button versus small blind, Beylin had flopped bottom set with the {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and his table neighbor got it in with pocket aces. No ace showed up on turn and river, and Beylin scored the knockout with his set to jump above one million in chips.

Other players that built their stack on the looming bubble period in the Amazon Tan section were Brian Yoon, Paul Michaelis, Mantas Bagicuis and James Obst, while Russell Holt dropped below the average.

True North, Strong and Free

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Kristen Bicknell
Kristen Bicknell

On a board of {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} with roughly 150,000 in the middle, Kristen Bicknell was confronted with a bet from the big blind for 50,000.

Bicknell was in the cutoff, and she mulled over her decision for a few minutes before making the call.

The river landed the {A-Diamonds}, and the big blind plonked out a stack of orange 5,000-denomination chips.

"I'm all in!" quickly announced Bicknell as she pushed forward all her chips.

The dealer broke her stacks down, and Bicknell's all in was for 92,500 and she tabled her {A-Clubs}{K-Spades} for the nut full house, while her opponent showed his {A-Spades}{10-Spades} for trips.

Podheiser Doubles Through Mamouni

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

In a four-bet preflop pot and a continuation-bet that was called on the flop itself, the board now read {k-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and Smain Mamouni was considering his options from late position and put Podheiser all-in. Daniel Podheiser was sitting in the cutoff. Podheiser snap-called for the 220,500 he had in front of him.

Daniel Podheiser: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}
Smain Mamouni: {6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}

Podheiser held an overpair and Mamouni had flopped a pair of sixes. Podheiser needed to avoid another six or four to not get eliminated this close to the bubble.

The river completed the board with the {7-Diamonds} and Mamouni quickly paid out Podheiser's double-up.
