Newport Doubles Through Luca

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Nicholas Newport raised on the button and called a three-bet from big blind Ivan Luca to 108,000. The board rolled out {k-Hearts}{a-Spades}{9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}, with Luca betting 78,000, then 150,000, then 218,000 all in effective.

Newport quickly called it off on the river and Luca showed {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}. Newport had {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for flopped aces up and collected a double.

Maeroff Eliminates Zoughari

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Moundir Zoughari moved all in from middle position for his last 57,000. It folded to Jason Maeroff in the big blind who called and the hands were shown.

Jason Maeroff: {q-Spades}{3-Spades}
Moundir Zoughari: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

The dealer fanned the {10-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Maeroff paired his three but would still need to improve against the pocket kings of Zoughari. "Queen," shouted Maeroff, and the turn was the {3-Diamonds}.

Maeroff didn't get the queen he asked for but spiked a third three and he improved to a full house on the {10-Clubs} river to eliminate Zoughari. "See, that's all you gotta do," said Maeroff as he raked in the pot.

Yoshioka Moves Over 1.5 Million With a Good Turn

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

In what members of the table said was a three-bet pot, we picked up action on a turn of {9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{8-Clubs} with around 400,000 in the pot. Shigeo Yoshioka checked to his lone opponent who bet 125,000. Yoshioka called.

The river was the {6-Clubs} and Yoshioka checked to his opponent again who moved all in for over 300,000. Yoshioka snap-called and revealed his {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for a set while his opponent could only show {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} for an overpair.

Yoshioka took down the big pot and moved to over 1.5 million chips.
