Akenhead Clipped by Harvell in Massive Pot

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
James Akenhead
James Akenhead

Justin Harvell opened to 60,000 from late position and action folded to the big blind where James Akenhead made it 240,000. Action was back on Harvell and he called.

The flop was {J-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Akenhead led with a bet of 220,000. Harvell just called.

The turn was the {4-Diamonds} and Akenhead thought for a few seconds before moving all in with a slightly covering stack. Harvell didn't waste any time calling off his stack for 920,000.

James Akenhead: {5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Justin Harvell: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}

The river was the {Q-Spades} which did not complete Akenhead's straight draw and he was clipped to right around 220,000 chips while Harvell doubled to nearly three million.

Fox Makes a Hero Call

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Picking up the action on the turn with the board reading {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}, Nick Newport tossed in a bet of 205,000 from the small blind. Jorden Fox called and the {8-Clubs} landed on the river.

Newport threw in another bet of 510,000 and Fox went into the tank. After a couple of minutes, he finally found the call. Newport turned over {j-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and Fox rolled over {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}. His two pair, tens and sevens, were good enough to take down another pot of over a million.

Davies Finishes Off Lawson

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

After Ted Lawson was very short in a recent hand, he has now seen his Main Event run come to an end.

Lawson was all in for around 100,000 and saw both Paulo Goncalves and Scott Davies call. Playing for the side pot as well, Goncalves and Davies both checked on the {a-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop, before Goncalves check-folded to a bet from Davies on the {k-Clubs} turn.

Scott Davies: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Ted Lawson: {j-Spades}{9-Spades}

Lawson was behind to two pair and needed to hit a spade on the river to survive. But it didn't come, and Lawson was eliminated.

Cristos Doubles with Kings Against Lawson

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

From the button, Ted Lawson raised to 80,000 and Jordan Cristos called in the small blind, as did Mantas Bagocius in the big blind.

The flop landed {5-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and action checked round to see the {6-Hearts} land on the turn.

Cristos checked, Bagocius bet 95,000, and Lawson called. Cristos responded by moving all in for 535,000 and Bagocius immediately folded. Lawson deliberated for several minutes, and then made the call to put Cristos at risk.

Cristos: {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}
Lawson: {A-Clubs}{4-Hearts}

The river landed the {5-Hearts}, and Cristos doubled to nearly 1.5 million in chips.

Obst Sends Novotny to the Rail

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
James Obst
James Obst

Thomas Novotny moved all in from early position with a shove for about 500,000. Next to act was James Obst and he moved all in over the top for about 2,350,000 total. Action folded around to the blinds where Phillip Mighall tanked for quite some time before releasing his hand. The big blind folded as well so Obst and Novotny headed to a showdown.

James Obst: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Thomas Novotny: {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}

The board ran out {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{10-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and with his ace-king kickers to the board, Obst earned the pot to move to almost three million while Novotny hit the rail.

Lynskey and Kaarem Pick on Yoshioka

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Alex Lynskey
Alex Lynskey

Shigeho Yoshioka opened to 65,000 and Fredrik Kaarem three-bet to 185,000 on his left. The action folded back to Yoshioka who called to see a flop of {q-Clubs}{7-Spades}{2-Spades}. Yoshioka check-called a bet of 190,000 and the {9-Diamonds} landed on the turn.

Both players checked to see the {7-Hearts} on the river. Yoshioka led out for 325,000 and Kaarem quickly made the call. Yoshioka tabled {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs} but Kaarem held {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} for a better pair to take the pot.

Following that, Bart Lybaert raised to 75,000 from early position and was called by Yoshioka and Alexander Lynskey in the small blind. The flop fell {6-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs} and Lynskey checked to Lybaert who continued for 130,000. Yoshioka called and Lynskey check-raised to 390,000. Lybaert quickly folded but Yoshioka called.

The turn brought the {3-Clubs} and both players checked to the {q-Hearts} on the river. Lynskey shoved all in, putting Yoshioka to the test for his last 550,000. He thought for a minute and then gave up, conceding another pot to Lynskey.
