Ace-High is Good for Rast

Level 13 : 400/800, 0 ante

Kane Kalas raised it up on the button and Brian Rast three-bet to 8,000. Kalas called and the flop fell {7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. Rast checked to Kalas who dropped in a bet of 9,200. Rast called and the {q-Diamonds} landed on the turn.

Both players checked and the {10-Diamonds} completed the board. Rast checked once more and Kalas elected to go to showdown. Rast tabled {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} and that proved to be good enough to collect the pot.

At the same table, Scott Baumstein has opened up a large lead over defending champion Justin Bonomo. The winners of these two matches will face off in the Round of 32.

Lehr Defeats Sklar

Level 13 : 400/800, 0 ante

The first player to advance to the round of 32 is Keith Lehr. The board was all but rushed away and Richard Sklar shook hands with him, then added "you better do something now," before both headed out of the tournament area.

According to Sklar, they invested 20,000 preflop and the chips went in after a {10-}{7-}{6-} flop. Sklar had pocket kings and Lehr turned over pocket tens for top set to hold up after a brick on turn and river.

Leonard Doubles Against Polk

Level 13 : 400/800, 0 ante

Patrick Leonard opened to 2,000 on the button and Doug Polk three-bet to 6,800 in the big blind. Leonard called and the flop came {j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}. Polk led out for 5,800 and Leonard raised to 20,300 which Polk called.

The turn was the {9-Hearts} and Polk check-called another 26,300 from Leonard. The river brought the {3-Hearts} and Polk checked again. Leonard counted out his chips and then moved all in for 56,700. Polk thought for a moment and then made the call. Leonard turned over {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for two pair and Polk mucked his cards.

Garcia Over Morgnstern

Level 14 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

Joining the action on the {7-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} turn, Anton Morgenstern bet 16,000 and Cord Garcia raised it up to 40,000. Morgenstern reluctantly folded and Garcia had previously offered to show his cards if Morgenstern was to do the same.

Morgenstern mucked and Garcia flashed {a-Spades}{3-Hearts}, the German mentioned in table chat he had ace-queen. As a result, the stack of Morgenstern has already been cut into half.

Garcia Defeats Morgenstern

Level 14 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

The dealer announced a winner on table 420 and Anton Morgenstern was spotted on his way out while Cord Garcia claimed the chips and advanced to the round of 32. According to Garcia, Morgenstern was down to 18,600 when he jammed with {q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and Garcia called with {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}.

A queen on the flop gave Morgenstern the lead, but Garcia turned the nut straight to punch his ticket for the next round.

"I ran pretty pure in this one," Garcia added with a smile.
