Kolev Jams Into Bicknell

Level 27 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

With 50,000 in the middle and the board showing {8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}, Boris Kolev bet 17,000 and Kristen Bicknell raised to 83,000. Kolev gave it some thought and folded.

Soon after, Bicknell opened to 5,000 and Kolev defended. On the {9-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop, Kolev check-raised to 14,000 and Bicknell clicked it back to 41,000. Kolev was having none of it this time and moved all in, which forced a fold from Bicknell.

Lehr Beats Hughes to Reach Round of 16

Level 27 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

Blinds 3,000-6,000

Keith Lehr and Ryan Hughes had opted to come back earlier and were already a few levels ahead with Lehr holding a commanding lead for the past half an hour.

Eventually, Hughes min-raised and called the shove of Lehr for the last 50,000 with {k-Spades}{j-Spades}. Lehr had {5-Clubs}{5-Spades} and won the flip on a {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} board. Lehr has advanced to the round of 16 and will be back at noon on the money bubble.

Schulman Dodges to Stay Alive

Level 27 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante
Nick Schulman
Nick Schulman

Nick Schulman was whittled down to under 20 big blinds against Cord Garcia and the two players each found a hand to get all of the chips in the middle. Schulman was at risk for 34,400 with {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} against Garcia's {9-Spades}{8-Spades}.

The flop came {8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Spades} to give Garcia a few outs. The {q-Spades} on the turn also gave Garcia a flush draw but the {a-Diamonds} on the river bricked off to give Schulman a full double up.

Soverel and Smith in the Lead

Level 27 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

John Smith flopped a straight with {5-Spades}{4-Clubs} and had a bet of 16,000 on the river called by Mark Burford to scoop a pot and establish an early lead.

On the other side of the table, Sam Soverel is even further ahead in his duel with James Dambrosio. The board f {j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{x-} was all but rushed away and Soverel's bet of 10,000 was called. Soverel showed {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and Dambrosio tapped the table in defeat, said "nice hand" and mucked his cards.

(blinds 1,000/2,000)

With about 130,000 in the pot and the board reading {10-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}, Nick Schulman shoved from the big blind for effectively 163,700 and Cord Garcia tanked from the button for a bit before he called.

Schulman showed {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}, but Garcia tabled {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for two pair to double through Schulman to take a commanding lead.

Schemion Advances to Round of 16

Level 26 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

Ole Schemion had two very long matches and now a short one, as he knocked out Caufman Talley in the first level. They had been playing some 14 minutes and Talley ended up five-bet jamming with {q-}{j-} and Schemion gave it some thought before making the call with {a-}{k-}.

A king appeared on the flop and that was all it took for the German to get an early night. He will be back the next day at noon when the round of 16 kicks off at noon local time.
