Vartughian Gets Scooped Twice

Level 21 : 40,000/80,000, 0 ante

Jake Schwartz raised in the cutoff and was called by Ed Vartughian in the big blind. They checked the {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop and the {k-Clubs} turn. On the {9-Spades} river, Vartughian check-called a bet and Schwartz announced a straight and a bad low, turning over {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{8-Spades}{6-Spades}. That won the entire pot, as Vartughian mucked.

One hand later, Owais Ahmed raised the button and was called by Vartughian in the small blind and Robert Campbell in the big blind. Ahmed's bet on the {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{8-Spades} flop was check-called by both opponents and just Vartughian check-called the remaining two bets on the {6-Hearts} turn and {10-Clubs} river.

Ahmed showed {9-Clubs}{7-Spades}{4-Spades}{2-Spades} for a straight and second nut low to scoop a decent pot, leaving Vartughian very short.

Benyamine showed {a-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} for two pair and an eight-five low and that was enough to take down the pot.

Wheel for Schwartz; Chips for Guagenti

Level 21 : 40,000/80,000, 0 ante

Robert Campbell raised it up and was called by Jake Schwartz in the big blind. Schwartz checked and called a bet on the {a-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop. The {j-Diamonds} on the turn went check, check, and Schwartz bet the {q-Clubs} on the river. Campbell made the call and was greeted by a wheel, as Schwartz had the goods with {a-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}.

Ed Vartughian raised and called a three-bet by Nick Guagenti. Vartughian check-called bets on the {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop and the {10-Clubs} turn. After the {q-Hearts} river, Vartughian checked and folded to a third barrel by Guagenti.

David Benyamine defended out of the big blind against a raise by Shaun Deeb in early position and they checked down the board {q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{4-Hearts}. Benyamine tabled {a-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Spades} and that won the pot.

Ed Vartughian then raised first to act and was called by Jake Schwartz in the cutoff. Vartughian bet the {j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop and Schwartz made the call to see the {5-Diamonds} turn and {5-Hearts} river run out go check, check. Vartughian announced ace-four and showed {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and won half of the low only, as Schwartz had {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs} for the same low and a pair for the high.
