Coleman Bags Impressive Chip Lead After Day 2 of Event #26: $2,620 No-Limit Hold'em Marathon

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

After a long day of over 12 hours of poker, Day 2 of Event #26: $2,620 No-Limit Hold'em Marathon has come to an end with many players staggering out of the tournament area. It was a fight to keep their eyes open, but 188 players will be back tomorrow in an attempt to make it through another day.

Leading the way after an impressive six levels is David Coleman (pictured left) with 651,200 chips. That equates to over 250 big blinds when the action resumes tomorrow for Day 3. Coleman already has one cash to his name at the 2019 World Series of Poker in Event #19: #1,500 Millionaire Maker for $4,577. The New Jersey native plays a lot of mid-stakes tournament throughout the United States but a deep run in this event could result in largest career cash which currently sits at just over $18,000.

A few other big stacks moving on to Day 3 include Timothy Miles (483,400), Joseph Liberta (386,300), and Stoyan Obreshkov (340,000) who all had profitable days in their own right. The field was littered with notable names at every table who were soaking up the opportunity to play in one of the best structures at the WSOP. Joseph Cheong (289,700), Anatoly Filatov (229,000), Joao Vieira (182,000), along with bracelet winners David Pham (178,000), Adrian Mateos (139,300), Ryan Leng (100,000), and Mohsin Charania (68,900).

Two of the largest pots on the day belonged to Morten Mortensen who won multiple pots worth over 200,000 in chips. The Danish poker pro got value from a big straight early in the day to move among the chip leaders and in the last level of the night, Mortensen claimed another monster pot with a full house against his opponent's overpair. By the end of the day, Mortensen put 435,000 in his bag and will return to a healthy stack tomorrow.

The action got started at around 12 p.m. this afternoon with a little over 500 players returning to the felt. Late registration remained open for two levels today and players continued to filter into the field. The number of entries grew to 1,083 which created a prizepool of $2,553,714 to play for.

The players were busting at a rapid pace for the first half of the day, but with an average stack of around 100 big blinds after the dinner break, the action slowed down. When the action resumes on Day 3, the money bubble won't be far off, with just 163 players earning a payday. A min-cash will be worth $3,928 and the winner will be taking home $477,401 after six days of play.

Unfortunately for some, the day wasn't as successful as others. Marvin Rettenmaier, Kristen Bicknell, Cord Garcia, Ryan Laplante, Martin Jacobson, Alex Foxen, Jamie Gold, Niall Farrell, and defending champion Michael Addamo were among some of those that failed to run up a stack. Unfortunately for Kenny Hallaert, he was able to run up a stack to over 200,000 but saw it all disappear when he flopped a set against his opponent's straight.

The players will return to the felt at 1 p.m. tomorrow for Day 3 with another six levels on the schedule. The levels will remain at 100 minutes throughout with a 15-minute break scheduled after every level. There will also be a 60-minute dinner break after the fourth level of the day. All of the action will take place in the Miranda Room and the PokerNews live reporting team will be here to bring you all the coverage throughout the event.

Matt Berkey: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Anuj Kwatra: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

Set Up Between Hallaert and Enselme

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Kenny Hallaert
Kenny Hallaert

In a raised pot, the flop showed {10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and Arnaud Enselme checked in the big blind.

Things escalated when Kenny Hallaert made a continuation bet for 3,000 and faced a check-raise from Enselme for 12,000. Hallaert thought about his move for a minute and opted to raise again, making it 31,000, before Enselme announced all in, covering Hallaert's stack worth around 100,000 in total. Hallaert snap-called and the players revealed their cards:

Kenny Hallaert: {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}
Arnaud Enselme: {7-Hearts}{8-Clubs}

Despite flopping a set, Hallaert was in terrible shape, facing a flopped straight for the French player, and was eliminated after a {j-Spades} and a {7-Spades} completed the board.

Filatov Goes for Value on the River

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Anatoly Filatov
Anatoly Filatov

In a three-bet pot, Anatoly Filatov was heads-up with an opponent on his left. The flop came {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{2-Spades} and the action checked to Filatov who bet 6,500. His opponent called and the {k-Diamonds} landed on the turn.

His opponent check-called another bet of 18,000 from Filatov on the turn. The river brought the {j-Hearts} putting four cards to a straight on the board. That didn't slow down Filatov as he fired another 35,000 after it was checked to him. His opponent called and Filatov tabled {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} for a set of queens.

His opponent mucked his cards and Filatov collected the pot. "Ace-king no good," Filatov said as he laughed a bit.

Jacobson Binks the River

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Martin Jacobson
Martin Jacobson

There was a raise to 2,200 from the under-the-gun player and a call from a player in the hijack. Martin Jacobson was on the button and announced all in before using both hands to slide his 18,300 chips into the middle. The initial raiser flicked in a call and they were left heads-up.

Martin Jacobson: {q-Spades}{j-Spades}
Opponent: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

The flop came {8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and Jacobson missed one player at the table mentioning that they folded queen-jack. It didn't matter though, as the {3-Spades} on the turn and the {j-Diamonds} on the river gave Jacobson the best hand with a pair of jacks in order to double up.

Maria Lampropulos
Maria Lampropulos

The board read {7-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} and the pot already contained around 10,000 when Maria Lapropulos checked. Ronni Borg bet 5,600 from the cutoff and Lampropulos three-bet to 18,000. After a minute, Borg opted to call.

The {9-Diamonds} completed the board and Lampropulos tanked for some time and announced all in for 41,000 after the clock has been called, putting Borg into a decision. The latter ended up making the call with {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} but only to see {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} in Lampropulos's hand for the straight.

"Really?" said Borg before conceding the pot to Lampropulos with a smile.

Picking up the action on the turn with the board reading {a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{4-Hearts}{4-Spades}, Joey Weissman led out for 1,300 from the big blind into a pot of around 5,000. Niall Farrell raised to 4,500 in the hijack and Weissman called.

The river was the {10-Clubs} and Weissman checked. Farrell went into the tank for a couple of minutes before dropping in a large bet of 25,000. Weissman took his turn in the tank for a few minutes and eventually made the call. Farrell turned over {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for a full house and scooped the pot.

They all will all be looking to add more gold to their collection.

When play resumes today, the blinds will be at 300/600 with a 600 ante. Blinds will increase every 100 minutes and six more levels will be played. There will be a 15-minute break at the end of every level and a 60-minute dinner break after Level 4, around 8:20 p.m.
