Hughes Switches to Full-Heart Mode with Blockers

Level 18 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Big O

Three players made it to a {q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} flop as Jared Bleznick opened preflop, receiving calls from Phil Hui and Ryan Hughes in the blinds.

Hughes fired 26,000 on the flop and both of his opponents stuck around for a {4-Clubs} turn.

Hughes blasted 88,000, forcing out Bleznick. Hui called to see the river.

The river came {a-Spades} and Hui checked to Hughes again. Hughes pushed forward a bet of 130,000 and Hui quickly mucked.

Hughes exposed his hand, showing {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}{9-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts} for a pair of kings. Hughes capitalized on holding the nut blockers and his aggression worked out.

Bleznick Builds His Stack

Level 18 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

No-Limit Hold'em

Jared Bleznick bet 26,000 on a {4-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop from the cutoff, Scott Bohlman check-raised to 70,000 on the small blind, and Phil Hui folded on the big blind. Bleznick stared intently at the board before finally putting in the call. The turn came {q-Diamonds}, and the action checked through.

The river brought the {3-Spades}, and Bohlman put out a small bet of 50,000. Bleznick asked for a count, waited a couple of minutes and announced that he was all-in. Bohlman quickly folded, and it appears that Bleznick currently has the chip lead with 11 players remaining.

Sampo Ryynanen Eliminated in 12th Place ($7,197)

Level 18 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Sampo Ryynanen
Sampo Ryynanen

No-Limit Hold'em

On a flop of {5-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{k-Clubs}, Phil Hui checked from the big blind and his neighbor Sampo Ryynanen bet 12,500. Hui check-raised to 45,000 and Ryynanen called.

The {7-Spades} turn saw Hui quickly announced an all-in bet and Ryynanen called right away with a similar stack.

Hui had flopped two pair with {q-Hearts}{5-Hearts} but Ryynanen was still drawing very much live with {a-Spades}{k-Spades}.

The river was, however, the {q-Diamonds} and Hui finished with a full house to bust Ryynanen in 12th place.

Bleznick Eliminates Dzivielevski

Level 18 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

No-Limit Single Draw 2-7

Jared Bleznick opened from the cutoff, and Yuri Dzivielevski reraised all in for his last 41,500 chips from the small blind. Bleznick asked for a count and made the call.

Jared Bleznick: {8-}{7-}{6-}{5-}{3-}
Yuri Dzivielevski: {x-}{8-}{6-}{3-}{2-}

Bleznick stood pat and tabled his hand, while Dzivielevski drew one and tabled his {8-}{6-}{3-}{2-}. "How are you still live?" said an exasperated Bleznick.

Needing either a {7-} or a{5-}, Dzivielevski ended up with a {q-} on the draw, and goes out in 13th place for $5,802. The remaining 12 players are now redrawing to two tables.

Couden Looks Down at Blades

Level 18 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

No-Limit Hold'em

Ryan Hughes made it 10,000 under the gun and Yuri Dzivielevski three-bet to 36,000 in the small blind. Joey Couden peeled a good hand in the big blind and he cold four-bet shoved for 87,000. Hughes folded but Dzivielevski took over two minutes. A clock was called on him thereafter and he called during his final 30 seconds to act.

Couden had nothing less than {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} and his pair prevailed against {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} as the board ran out {3-Clubs}{4-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}.

Bohlman Sends Leng to the Rail

Level 18 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Scott Bohlman
Scott Bohlman

Ryan Leng: {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Scott Bohlman: {k-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

Leng had less than 10,000 chips going into the hand and bet 5,000 preflop from the cutoff, getting the call from Bohlman on the button. The rest of Leng's chips went in on the {5-Spades}{10-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop, and Bohlman called.

"You got it, I was bluffing," Bohlman said as he tabled his {k-Hearts}{6-Hearts}, but he was actually ahead of Leng's {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. The board finished out {6-Spades}{2-Spades}, and Bohlman took down the pot with a pair of sixes.

Bohlman, the defending champion in this event, is up to 380,000 chips. Leng finishes 14th for $5,802.

Sexton More than Doubles

Level 18 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Big O

Three players made it to a {6-Clubs}{2-Spades}{8-Hearts} flop and Mike Sexton led out 40,000 from the small blind. Joey Couden jammed his 165,000 in the hijack and Jared Bleznick paused. He eventually released his hand. Sexton called off for 62,000 total.

Sexton: {a-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs}
Couden: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{3-Hearts}

Both players had the nut low but the {3-Spades} turn and {4-Hearts} river gave Sexton a wheel and he scooped the whole pot.

Bleznick rushed from his chair and slammed his had against the chair.

"I would've got it all. I'm so mad at myself," he started shouting.

"What do you mean? I have a wheel," Sexton said.

Bleznick replied that he didn't care about his stack but about Couden's and the potential big side pot. He claimed that he held {a-}{q-}{6-}{5-}{4-}.

Morris Eliminates Lisandro

Level 17 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Pot-Limit Omaha

Arthur Morris: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Jeff Lisandro: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{a-Spades}{6-Spades}

All of Lisandro's chips went in on the flop of {j-Spades}{10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, and Morris called. Lisandro saw that he was in bad shape against Morris' trip tens on the flop, and the {7-Hearts}{q-Clubs} sealed the elimination. Lisandro finished in 15th place for $5,802.
