Sammartino Busts Aljenabi

Level 7 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

With just 25,000 in the middle and the flop showing {k-Spades}{10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}, Dario Sammartino and Ali Aljenabi got into a raising war with near identical stacks and it was Aljenabi at risk for around 110,000.

Ali Aljenabi: {k-Clubs}{9-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs}
Dario Sammartino: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}

The {j-Diamonds} turn gave Aljenabi even more outs, but he bricked them all with a blank {6-Clubs} on the river.

"The Hold'em player strikes again!" another player at the table remarked. Both stacks were counted and Sammartino had Aljenabi covered by some 10,000.

Geilich on the Rise

Level 6 : 500/1,000, 0 ante
Ludovic Geilich
Ludovic Geilich

In a long final hand before the players went on break, Andriy Lyubovetskiy in the big blind and Toby Lewis checked he {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop over to Ludovic Geilich, who inquired what would happen if the hand would take very long. Geilich then checked behind and they also checked the {3-Hearts} turn.

On the {5-Hearts} river, Lyubovetskiy checked and Lewis bet 14,000. Geilich called and Lyubovetskiy check-folded after more than two minutes. Lewis shrugged and mucked, and Geilich scooped the pot without showdown.

"I had the flush," Geilich said but didn't show as he wasn't required to in order to win the pot.

In the last hand of the level, a cutoff raise to 2,500 and a button call resulted in a three-bet to 10,500 by Jan-Peter Jachtmann in the small blind. Paul Volpe in the big blind squeezed to 32,000 and the action folded back to Jachtmann, who eventually called.

The flop brought {q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Jachtmann checked, which prompted a pot-sized bet of 69,000 by Volpe. Jachtmann carefully counted his remaining stack, around 81,000, and took several minutes before announcing all in. Volpe called and the cards were turned over.

Jan-Peter Jachtmann: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{3-Diamonds}
Paul Volpe: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}

The {9-Spades} turn and {7-Hearts} river run out failed to improve Jachtmann and he was eliminated on his first bullet.

Kamran Bets the River and Wins

Level 6 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

On a board of {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}{6-Hearts}{a-Hearts}, Sam Snead checked from under the gun and Michael Kamran bet 5,500 from two seats over.

Mohsin Virani called next to act in the hijack, and Snead check-raised to 25,000 total. Kamran folded, but Virani called.

The river landed the {5-Diamonds}, and Snead checked. Virani bet 57,000, and Snead folded.

On a completed board of {8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{j-Hearts}, Cong Pham checked out of the big blind and Eddie Ochana in the hijack made it 56,000 to go.

Pham grabbed calling chips from his stack, gave it half a minute of consideration and called. Ochana rolled over {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}{10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} for jacks full and Pham sigh-mucked.

Mizrachi Chips Up

Michael Mizrachi earlier in the WSOP

On his second bullet of the day, Michael Mizrachi in the big blind three-bet an open raise by Warwick Mirzikinian from 2,000 to 7,000 and the Aussie came along to see the {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop. Mizrachi continued for 7,000 and Mirzikinian called to face a second barrel worth 20,000 on the {8-Hearts} turn. Another call by Mirzikinian followed and they checked the {9-Spades} river.

Mizrachi announced top two and flipped over {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}{j-Spades}{10-Clubs}, which was enough to win the pot.
