Tran Leaves Champ on Fumes; Is Later Eliminated

Level 5 : 600/1,200, 100 ante
David Brookshire
David Brookshire

Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better

Action folded to Lynda Tran in the small blind who completed. David Brookshire raised his option from the big blind and Tran called. The two saw a {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{q-Hearts} flop and Tran checked. Brookshire made a continuation-bet and Tran called, bringing the {a-Hearts} turn. Tran again check-called Brookshire's second barrel and the river came {j-Diamonds}.

Throughout the hand, there was a light, fun energy to the blind-on-blind battle. In that fashion, Tran started to laugh a little.

"Okay, check," she said.

"Okay, bet!" said Brookshire as he put in one final bet. Tran shrugged and called.

Brookshire tabled {a-Spades}{3-Spades}{10-Clubs}{6-Hearts} for Broadway and Tran turned over {5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{j-Spades} for a full house, aces full of jacks. Tran mentioned after the hand that she thought she might be behind. Brookshire confirmed she was ahead the whole way.

After the hand, Brookshire was down to his last 1,100 chips as the game switched to Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better. A few hands later, he was seen wishing his tablemates good luck as he stood up and exited the tournament area.

The board read {9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{4-Spades}{5-Diamonds} in a blind-versus-blind battle between Norman Chad in the small blind and Yuval Bronshtein in the big blind. Each player had put 3,000 into the pot postflop and action was on Chad, who bet. Bronshtein looked at his cards and looked at Chad before ultimately relinquishing his hand.

Buckley Scoops Three-Way Pot

Level 5 : 600/1,200, 100 ante
DJ Buckley
DJ Buckley

Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better

There was three-way action on a flop of {8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} between a player in early position, a player in middle position, and DJ Buckley in the cutoff. The player in early position bet and received two calls, bringing a turn of {9-Spades}. Action again saw the early position player bet and get called twice. The river came {2-Clubs} and action went check-check before Buckley put in a bet. Both players called.

DJ Buckley: {4-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{5-Clubs}
Early Position: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Middle Position: (mucked hand)

Buckley was able to hit a flush on the river and make a low with his four-ace, beating the other tabled hand of a straight with a low of five-ace and scoop the entire pot.

Recent Eliminations

Level 4 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
James Obst
James Obst

A couple of WSOP bracelet winners have been recently eliminated. Frankie O'Dell was overheard earlier saying that he had gotten short stacked after losing a pot in Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better with rolled up trips. He was later eliminated from the tournament.

James Obst was also nursing a shorter stack and was just seen exiting the Amazon room with his seat vacant and no chips in front of it.
