Sammartino Takes Two In Limit Hold'em

Level 16 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante

Limit Hold'em

Phil Hui raised from the hijack and Dario Sammartino three-bet from the cutoff. Action folded back to Hui, who called and the two saw a flop of {j-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. Hui check-called a continuation-bet from Sammartino and proceeded to check-call all the way down on the {10-Diamonds} turn and {6-Clubs} river.

Sammartino tabled {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds} and won the pot with a pair of queens.

Two hands later, Jared Bleznick opened from the hijack and Sammartino defended his big blind. Both players checked through a flop of {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{q-Hearts}. The turn was {7-Diamonds} and Sammartino check-raised a bet from Bleznick. Bleznick called and then called another bet from Sammartino on the {9-Clubs} river.

Sammartino showed {q-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for flopped trips and Bleznick tossed his cards into the muck, finding himself with around two big bets nearing the end of the level as Stud Hi-Lo became the next game in the table's rotation.

Oppenheim Takes Two in PLO

Level 16 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante
David Oppenheim
David Oppenheim

Pot-Limit Omaha

David Oppenheim had 430,000 out in front of him from the big blind after Lyle Berman had bet 100,000 on the button facing a {j-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs} board. Berman tanked for a minute before releasing his hand.

The very next hand, Berman limped in from the cutoff, as did Timofey Kuznetsov on the button. Oppenheim raised to 60,000, and both Berman and Kuznetsov called.

Berman checked out of turn on the {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{k-Spades} flop, then did so again before Oppenheim could act.

"I haven't done anything!" Oppenheim told Berman. Oppenheim bet 80,000, and both Berman and Kuznetzov quickly folded, while Oppenheim showed the {j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{9-Spades} before finally showing the {k-Diamonds} for two pair and a gutshot.

Oppenheim Takes Down Three-Way Pot

Level 16 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante

Razz

Phil Ivey: {x-}{x-}/{9-}{6-}{9-}{j-}/{x-}
Lyle Berman: {x-}{x-}/{3-}{6-}{k-}{k-}/{x-}
David Oppenheim: {x-}{x-}/{q-}{3-}{q-}{6-}/{x-}

Lyle Berman led out on fifth street, with both David Oppenheim and Phil Ivey coming along. The action checked though on sixth street, and checked to Oppenheim on seventh street.

Oppenheim bet, and both opponents called. Oppenheim's {a-}{7-}{2-} was good for a seven-six, and he scooped the multiway pot.

Friedman Shows Three Treys

Level 16 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante
Adam Friedman
Adam Friedman

2-7 Triple Draw

Adam Friedman raised from the cutoff to open the action and received a call from Talal Shakerchi in the small blind. On the first draw, Shakerchi took one card and Friedman took two. Shakerchi then led and Friedman called.

Shakerchi took one card again on the second draw and Friedman stood pat behind him. Shakerchi changed gears and checked. Friedman fired and Shakerchi called. Final draws again went one and pat and Shakerchi checked on the river. Friedman fired and Shakerchi remarked about how Friedman must have a stronger hand as he folded.

Friedman tabled {3-}{3-}{3-} to show the bluff as he raked in the pot.

Hui Puts Yockey in the Tank

Level 16 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante

Razz

Bryce Yockey: {x-}{x-} / {4-}{2-}{3-}{9-} / {x-}
Phil Hui: {x-}{x-} / {3-}{6-}{a-}{7-} / {x-}

On third street, Bryce Yockey completed, and Phil Hui called. Yockey bet his lead the next two streets, with Hui calling, then both players checked sixth street. Hui bet seventh street, and Yockey went into the tank.

"Did you pair your three or your two?" Hui asked Yockey.

"Neither." Yockey said.

After a minute in the tank, Hui said, "You're taking a long time to fold the worst hand," which prompted a short-stacked Jared Bleznick to chime in with, "Just f***ing do something!"

"Just give me a little more time," Yockey requested. He folded a few moments later, and Hui flashed the {10-} from his hand and said, "This good?"

"No, it's not," Yockey responded. He then followed up with, "I've played Razz with this guy before...he's a monkey!" to laughs from the table.

Esposito Makes Correct Read But Can't Improve

Level 16 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante

2-7 Triple Draw

Andrew Brown opened five-handed from the hijack and was three-bet by John Esposito in the cutoff. Brown four-bet and Esposito capped it at five bets. Brown called and took one card on the first draw while Esposito stood pat. After the draw, Brown check-raised a bet from Esposito, who called the raise.

Brown stood pat on the second draw and Esposito showed a black {8-} that he decided to break. Brown fired and Esposito called. On the final draw, Brown stood pat once more and Esposito took one again. Brown checked. Esposito looked down at his new card and checked behind.

Brown tabled {8-}{7-}{5-}{4-}{3-} and Esposito showed {7-}{6-}{4-}{2-}, mucking the fifth card while correctly exclaiming he had broken his worse eighty-seven on the draw.

Cates Sends Monnette Packing

Level 16 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante

Pot-Limit Omaha

Dan Cates opened for 30,000 in the cutoff, Josh Arieh called on the button, and short-stacked John Monnette called on the big blind.

The call left Monnette with just 20,000 chips, which he put in the middle on the {6-Hearts}{5-Spades}{q-Spades} flop. Cates raised to 65,000, and Arieh folded.

John Monnette: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Spades}
Dan Cates: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

Monnette missed this board completely, with Cates turning two pair on the {8-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} runout.

Stud Hi-Lo

John Esposito: {x-}{x-} / {7-Hearts}{k-Spades}{5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} / {x-}
Adam Friedman: {x-}{x-} / {4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} / {x-}

Picking up the action on fourth street, John Esposito bet every street, including dark on seventh street, and Adam Friedman called Esposito down.

Esposito showed the {a-Spades}{7-Clubs} from his hand before looking at his seventh street card, and Friedman said, "You're behind right now."

Esposito slammed the {k-Hearts} on the felt, giving him two pair, and he said, "Not now!"

Friedman stood up and shook his head, flashing {j-}{j-} in his hand and saying, "I had you beat every f***ing street!" to a grinning Esposito.

Level 16 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante
Timofey Kuznetsov
Timofey Kuznetsov

Omaha Hi-Lo

Timofey Kuznetsov opened the action with a raise from the cutoff and Shaun Deeb defended his big blind. The flop came {3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} and Deeb checked. Kuznetsov fired a continuation-bet and Deeb called. Both players checked the {k-Hearts} turn. The river was {9-Clubs} and Deeb check-called a final bet from Kuznetsov.

"Aces," Kuznetsov said as he turned over {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. Deeb mucked.
