Sammartino Continues Trending Downward

Level 20 : 60,000/120,000, 0 ante

Limit Hold'em

David Oppenheim raised from the cutoff, then called when Dario Sammartino three-bet on the button.

Oppenheim check-called a bet on the {8-Spades}{9-Hearts}{a-Clubs} flop, then check-called another bet on the {4-Clubs} turn.

The {9-Diamonds} river saw Oppenheim take the lead and bet, and Sammartino called.

"Ace-jack," Oppenheim said, tabling {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}. Sammartino mucked.

Pot-Limit Omaha

Josh Arieh raised to 65,000 on his button and Dario Sammartino called from the big blind.

The {3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades} hit the flop and Sammartino checked to Arieh who continued for 75,000. Sammartino check-raised to 190,000 and Arieh called.

Both players checked the {a-Diamonds} turn and the {9-Diamonds} completed the board. Sammartino bet 335,000.

"Wow, you made aces full? Holy s**t," Arieh said, thinking he may have been coolered.

After a little while, he called and Sammartino exposed only a pair of jacks. Arieh turned up {q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for a flopped full house and took down the pot to solidify his chip lead.

Omaha Hi-Lo

Shaun Deeb opened from the button and received a call from Dan Cates in the small blind. Phil Ivey three-bet from the big blind and both players called, taking action three ways to a flop of {5-Clubs}{2-Spades}{10-Spades}. Cates checked and Ivey continued. Deeb and Cates both called.

Vitch Pulls Off Great Call to Double

Level 20 : 60,000/120,000, 0 ante

Omaha Hi-Lo

Chris Vitch raised his button and Dario Sammartino called in the big blind.

Sammartino led out on {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and Vitch called.

Both players checked the {2-Spades} turn and Sammartino bet on the {8-Spades} river.

Vitch had only 135,000 behind and a potentially wrong call would leave him with 15,000.

"Why did you check the turn?" Vitch mumbled for himself.

"Sorry, guys," he apologized for taking his time.

Then he placed in the calling chips.

"Nice call," Sammartino said and Vitch immediately tabled {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{2-Diamonds} for nothing but a pair of deuces with a queen-ten blocker. Sammartino mucked his hand and Vitch virtually doubled.

The turn was {j-Hearts} and Deeb fired again. Hui put in a raise and Deeb thought for over a minute before tossing his cards to the center of the table and conceding the pot to Hui, who now finds himself back with a seven-figure chip stack.
