Event #6: $2,500 Limit Mixed Triple Draw

Day 2 Completed

Schwartz Closing in on First Bracelet as 13 Remain in Event #6

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante
Jake Schwartz
Jake Schwartz

Jake Schwartz didn't quite go wire to wire, but he followed up bagging the Day 1 chip lead by topping Day 2 of Event #6: $2,500 Limit Mixed Triple Draw at the 2019 World Series of Poker.

This time, of course, Schwartz finds himself considerably closer to the $160,447 top prize and the WSOP gold bracelet. With 50 cashes and over $500K in winnings, Schwartz has found a WSOP win elusive despite plenty of success at the Rio over the years.

Holding almost 20 percent of the total chips — 789,000 — and nearly 40 big bets for the start of Day 3, Schwartz has put himself in fantastic position for his first piece of WSOP gold.

Also among the 13 bagging were mixed-game stalwarts Mike Gorodinsky, Mark Gregorich, Dan Zack, Bryce Yockey and Jon Turner.

Of those, only Gorodinsky finds himself with an above average stack at 483,000. "Gordo" spent the middle portions of the day with the chip lead after he got seated with Julien Martini and got the better of the Frenchman in at least one large pot to set a course for a successful Day 2.

Martini would be among the players cashing, along with the likes of James Obst, Brandon Shack-Harris, David "ODB" Baker and Loren Klein, among others.

Chris Vitch, Jesse Martin, Jeff Lisandro, Alex Foxen and Anthony Zinno were some of the grinders busting without a share of the prize pool.

Play continues at 2 p.m. local time with the plan to play to a winner. Limits will be 10,000/20,000 upon the players' return, and this one will be unstreamed, so come back to PokerNews as your exclusive source of updates to find out who snags the first mixed-game bracelet of 2019.

Belianin Chooses Wrong

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

Badugi

Small blind Georgii Belianin drew a card on the first pull and Jake Schwartz was pat on the button. Belianin check-called and drew another card, with Schwartz patting. Belianin checked and got the last bet in, taking a final card and showing {3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{a-Spades} for the nut draw. He was well live against Schwartz's ten-dugi.

Belianin missed with the {6-Spades}.

"I had ace of spades and ace of clubs, and I kept ace of spades," he said ruefully.

Gee Outkicks Turner

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

2-7 Triple Draw

David Gee raised from under the gun and action folded to Jon Turner, who called from the big blind. Turner drew three and Gee drew two and both players proceeded to check. On the second draw, both players took two cards and Turner led out with a bet. Gee made the call and both players took one card on the final draw. Turner then checked and Gee made a bet that Turner called, bringing the hand to showdown.

Turner turned over a {9-Spades} to signify that he had a nine, and Gee tabled {9-}{7-}{5-}{3-}{2-}. Turner mucked his hand and Gee raked in the pot.

Hampton Wins at Showdown

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

2-7 Triple Draw

Brayden Gazlay opened from the cutoff at a four-handed table and was three-bet by Jesse Hampton on the button. Both blinds got out of their way and Gazlay made the call. On the first draw, both players took two cards and Gazlay led out afterwards with a bet that Hampton called. The second draw went one, two and Gazlay again bet. Hampton put in a raise and Gazlay called, taking action to the third draw of one and pat.

On the end, both players checked and Hampton tabled {10-}{8-}{7-}{6-}{2-} for a ten-low. Gazlay mucked his hand and Hampton collected the pot.

"You're Gonna Destroy Me if you Show it"

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

Badugi

Mike Gorodinsky bet the end in badugi from the button and Bryce Yockey check-raised him in the small blind. "Gordo" came back with three bets and Yockey sucked in a deep breath and put his head in his hands.

After about a minute, he mucked.

"You're gonna destroy me if you show it," he said.

Gordo paused for a beat then mucked.

John Racener
John Racener

A-5 Triple Draw

John Racener raised under the gun, Kristijonas Andrulis called in the small blind and Mark Gregorich three-bet in the big. Everyone continued with Andrulis taking two and the others one. Gregorich bet again and the others called, then draws repeated. This time, Racener raised all in when Gregorich bet, folding Andrulis out. Gregorich patted and Racener took a card.

"I've got a wheel," Gregorich said.

Racener wished everyone good luck as he was dead with {6-}{3-}{2-}{a-} and he turned over a four as a final rub of salt in the wound.

Brown Wins With Seven; Siegel Eliminated

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

A-5 Triple Draw

Andrew Brown opened action with a raise from the cutoff and was three-bet by Dan Zack on the button. The blinds folded and Brown reraised to a fourth bet. Zack then capped it at five bets and Brown called, taking action to the first draw.

Brown stood pat and Zack drew one. After the draw, Brown bet and Zack called. The second draw also went pat and one, with Brown betting and Zack calling. The final draw was more of the same, pat and one, and both players checked at the end.

Brown tabled {7-}{5-}{3-}{2-}{a-} and Zack sent his cards to the muck.

At an adjacent table, Jordan Siegel was just eliminated from the tournament after recently being crippled.
