Zhu Hanging in There

Level 26 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

Omaha Hi-Lo

Yueqi Zhu was in the big blind, calling a raise from James Van Alstyne.

Zhu led out on the {7-Hearts}{9-Spades}{6-Hearts} flop, Van Alstyne called and the rest of Zhu's chips went in on the {k-Diamonds} turn. Van Alstyne called but Zhu held {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{j-Spades}{9-Hearts} and he prevailed against {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} as the river didn't hit any of Van Alstyne's draws.

Sternberg Takes from Donev

Level 26 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

Omaha Hi-Lo

Ivo Donev raised in the small blind, Alan Sternberg reraised on his left, and Donev called.

Donev called bets from Sternberg on the flop, turn and the river of the {2-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{j-Hearts} board, but Sternberg had him beat with {a-Spades}{j-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades}. Donev showed he had {a-}{3-}{8-}{q-} for a missed nut low draw and a flopped pair, but Sternberg got there on the river.

Shane Howeth
Shane Howeth

Omaha Hi-Lo

The flop was down {2-Spades}{6-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}, and Shane Howeth's 40,000 bet from the small blind was called by James Van Alstyne in the big blind.

The turn was the {10-Hearts} and Howeth bet, leaving himself with 37,000 behind. Van Alstyne raised to put Howeth all in, and he called.

Shane Howeth: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{5-Spades}
James Van Alstyne: {a-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{4-Hearts}

The river card fell the {a-Spades}, and Van Alstyne stole the pot to eliminate Howeth in 12th place for $9,440.

Level 26 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

Big O

John Evans made it 50,000 on the button and Sean Yu called on his left.

Yu called another 50,000-bet on a flop of {5-Spades}{j-Hearts}{k-Spades}.

The turn was the {8-Spades} and Yu announced he was all in. He had 224,000 behind while the pot was 220,000, but it didn't matter as Evans quickly laid his hand down.

Sternberg Doubles Through Howeth

Level 26 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

Big O

Alan Sternberg was all in preflop, and Shane Howeth was happy to call.

Alan Sternberg: {a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}
Shane Howeth: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

Board: {3-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{3-Spades}{10-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

Sternberg flopped quads much to the surprise of the table and by the river had completed the vital double up.

Howeth, who not too long ago was playing over 1,000,000, was reduced to 250,000.

Guerfi Scoops Zhu

Level 25 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

Big O

[Removed:146] raised to 60,000 under the gun, Yueqi Zhu defended his big blind with a call and they went to a flop of {4-Hearts}{6-Spades}{9-Clubs}.

Zhu checked, Guerfi bet 130,000 and Zhu tank-called.

Both checked the {4-Diamonds} turn and Zhu fired 182,000 on the {k-Spades} river. Guerfi quickly picked him off, showing {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades}. Zhu briefly exposed his hand but it was quickly mucked as Guerfi had him beat.

Zhu on the Rise

Level 25 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

Limit Omaha Hi-Lo

Yueqi Zhu raised under the gun, Ivo Donev called in the small blind and Alan Sternberg called in the big.

Zhu bet on all streets of the {5-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts} board and Donev called him down while Sternberg folded on the flop.

Zhu tabled {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{4-Spades} for a nut flush and a low and Donev couldn't beat either.

Defending Champ Doubles Up

Level 25 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo

Last year's $1,500 Mixed Omaha champion Yueqi Zhu was at risk with {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} against James Van Alstyne's {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}, but his flopped two pair held all the way through the {6-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} board and Van Alstyne had to ship 271,000 Zhu's way.

Christopher Carey Eliminated in 14th Place ($9,440); Noah Bronstein Eliminated in 13th Place ($9,440)

Level 25 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante
Christopher Carey
Christopher Carey

Omaha Hi-Lo

Ivo Donev (hijack) and Christopher Carey (button) had both been dealt aces and they capped it preflop.

They continued in raising after the {7-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} to put Carey all in.

Carey: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{3-Clubs}
Donev: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}

The {5-Spades} turn gave Carey a better low draw but the {3-Hearts} river was a lethal card, giving Donev a flush and a low while Carey finished what he'd started with.

Seconds after that, Noah Bronstein was eliminated by Iori Yogo from the other table.
