Pan Chopped Up by Turner and Bernstein

Level 13 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

Jon Turner faced some heat on fourth street with {8-Clubs}{a-Spades} as there was a bet and raise ahead of him, but he called it cold only to have Qinghai Pan three-bet with {4-Spades}{a-Clubs}. Larry Bernstein called with {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and they were off from there with Bernstein betting the remaining streets after catching the {6-Hearts}.

Bernstein: {x-}{x-}/{a-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades}/{x-}
Turner: {x-}{x-}/{8-Clubs}{a-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}/{x-}
Pan: {x-}{x-}/{4-Spades}{a-Clubs}{q-Spades}{k-Spades}/{x-}

Bernstein didn't hesitate to bet the end and got two quick calls. He showed {2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{7-Spades} for a six-low. Turner showed {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and said he was rolled up, and Pan couldn't beat either hand.

Where Are They Now? PokerNews Catches Up with Ali Eslami

Level 13 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante
Ali Eslami
Ali Eslami

In the early 2000s, Ali Eslami was a familiar face at the World Series of Poker (WSOP). In 2011, he had a career-year with $509,932 in earnings and followed that up in 2012 with a $423,257 year. However, Eslami really hadn’t been seen since 2014 after he finished 81st in the WSOP Main Event for $85,812.

That’s why it was so surprising to not only see him firing Day 1 of Event #67: $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship, but also finish the 68 survivors as the chip leader.

Find out where he's been and what he's doing now in PokerNews' latest Where Are They Now? article.

Matsuzuki Chops and Survives

Level 13 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

Dan Matsuzuki got all in on fourth street with low cards against an open pair of aces held by Thomas Schroepfer and Jason Mercier's {j-Clubs}{k-Spades}. Schroepfer check-called fifth but was dealt another ace on sixth. Mercier tank-called.

Matsuzuki: {x-}{x-}/{3-Spades}{5-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}/{x-}
Mercier: {x-}{x-}/{j-Clubs}{k-Spades}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts}/{x-}
Schroepfer: {x-}{x-}/{a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{a-Hearts}/{x-}

Jack Duong got it all in on fifth street against Jerry Wong and Mike Matusow.

Duong: {x-}{x-}/{a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Wong: {x-}{x-}/{7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Matusow: {x-}{x-}/{2-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

Matusow caught the {k-Hearts} and Wong the {4-Spades}, and each checked their newfound pairs. Duong picked up the {7-Diamonds}. Matusow bet the end but folded to a raise from Wong, who announced two pair and a low. Duong flicked in {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} but leaned over to see if jacks up was any good as Wong had the {a-Spades}.

"Don't worry, I'd say aces up," Wong said, spreading cards to show his two pair was sevens and four as he had {7-Spades}{6-Spades} in he hole as well.

Pan Bets into Trips

Level 13 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

On the end, Tommy Hang was sporting a board with three nines on it, but that didn't deter Qinghai Pan from firing into him after a check.

Hang: {x-}{x-}/{9-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}/{x-}
Pan: {x-}{x-}/{q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}/{x-}
