Mike Sexton
Mike Sexton

Christopher Canan opened for 24,000 from early position and Mike Sexton three-bet half his remaining 170,000 from the button. Action folded back to Canan who jammed for 269,000 and after some hesitation, Sexton called.

Christopher Canan: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Mike Sexton: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

Sexton needed some help, but didn't get any on the {6-Spades}{j-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop.

The turn brought the {8-Diamonds} and Sexton needed an ace to fall on the river.

Unfortunately, the river fell the case {k-Diamonds} and the 1989 bracelet winner was eliminated from the playing field.

Big Pot Predicted by Bensimhon; Karbassioun Eliminated

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

"It's a big pot! Big pot over here," cried Eyal Bensimhon. Arriving at the table we found a limp from Ryan Dodson in early position. No fireworks yet...

Vincent Karbassioun called in the small blind and Graeme Wright checked his big blind.

The flop was {5-Spades}{q-Hearts}{4-Spades}. Karbassioun continued for 15,000 and got two calls. Karbassioun bet 45,000 on the {2-Spades} turn and Wright moved all in. Dodson folded and Karbassiounc called.

Vincent Karbassioun: {10-Spades}{8-Spades}
Graeme Wright: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}

Wright held top pair with the nut flush draw after Karbassioun had turned a flush. The river was the {6-Spades} and Karbassioun was eliminated.

"What did I tell you?!" said Bensimhon.

Moncek Joins the Big Stacks

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

There was a three-way all in involving Michael Moncek, Terry Gillespie and Matthew Diethelm.

Michael Moncek: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Matthew Diethelm: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Terry Gillespie: {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

"I'm officially using my one time dealer," said Gillespie as the {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop gave him a pair. He was the short stack with 125,000 with Diethelm slightly ahead of him with 135,000.

The turn was the {3-Diamonds} but the river {q-Diamonds} gave Moncek a set and sent both opponents to the rail.

"Nice hand," said Gillespie graciously as both he and Diethelm exited the tournament area.

Mercini's Kings Cracked

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

A player opened to 25,000 and Satoshi Tanaka moved all in for 250,000 from the button. Peter Mercini three-bet all in from the big blind and the original raiser folded.

Satoshi Tanaka: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Peter Mercini: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

Mercini had picked up a big blind special, but the {a-Spades}{9-Clubs}{5-Clubs} gave a pair and a flush draw to Tanaka and left Mercini drawing to a single out. The {j-Diamonds} turn and {3-Spades} river did not help him. After a quick count, he was covered by just 25,000 chips and Mercini was eliminated.
