Laplante Sets One Up

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Ryan Laplante
Ryan Laplante

Action checked to Ryan Laplante on the button, and facing a {7-Spades}{8-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} flop, he fired 6,600. The big blind check-raised to 13,600, and after another player folded, Laplante set his opponent all in for his last 40,000 total. The big blind snap-called.

Opponent: {j-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Ryan Laplante: {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}

Laplante's set was looking to avoid a ten to earn the knockout, and the {k-Clubs} turn and {4-Diamonds} river did just that.

Smith Shoves on Chan

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Johnny Chan raised to 25,000 from the button and the player in the small blind folded before Elliot Smith in the big blind three-bet to 11,000.

Chan quickly four-bet to 25,000 and the small blind player folded. With the action back on Smith, he collected up his chips and moved all in for 70,300.

Chan was sat with 88,000 behind and went into the tank. The two-time WSOP Main Event champion seemingly had a tough decision on his hand and thought for close to 90 seconds before he checked his holding for the final time and mucked his cards.

Smith took in the pot uncontested and moved up to 110,000.

"No Ace"

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Sean Dwyer raised to 2,500 from middle position and received calls from the small blind as well as Joao Vieira in the big blind. The three players all checked through the flop {k-Clubs}{5-Spades}{q-Spades}.

The turn came {3-Spades} and action checked to Dwyer, who bet 3,000. The small blind called and Vieira got out of the way.

The river fell {a-Clubs} and the small blind checked once more. Dwyer bet 11,000.

"You hit the ace on the river?" said the small blind as he folded without much hesitation.

Dwyer shook his head, mouthing the words, "no ace." The small blind asked again and Dwyer verbally affirmed, "no ace," as he took in the pot.
