Gates Doubles Through Heidorn with Rivered Ace

Level 31 : 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante
Garry Gates
Garry Gates

Robert Heidorn opened to 550,000 from middle position and Garry Gates three-bet the big blind to 2,100,000.

Heidorn thought for a few moments and then announced he was all in. Gates would be at risk for his 11,350,000 if he called, and after roughly a minute, he placed forward chips to signify a call.

Heidorn: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Gates: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

With Gates needing to find an ace, the {q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{6-Spades} flop gave him outs to a backdoor straight.

The {5-Hearts} on the turn reduced his outs to just an ace, and when the dealer burned and turned the {a-Diamonds} on the river, Gates leapt to his feet and ran towards his rail to celebrate his double to over 23 million.

Chang Luo opened for 550,000 early and Milos Skrbic made it 1,675,000 on the button. Kevin Maahs put in a cold four-bet to 3,750,000 in the big blind. Luo said he was all in, for what was right around 8.1 million. Skrbic folded and Maahs sank back in his chair. After getting the count, he called.

Kevin Maahs: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Chang Luo: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}

Maahs ran into the cooler but the {3-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flop brought him a flush draw. He missed on the {q-Hearts} turn but the {10-Clubs} river gave him the best hand and the massive pot to bust Luo.
