Day 1 Completed
After more than ten and a half hours, the next first-time winner has been crowned in the 2020 GGPoker WSOP Online Bracelet Events and it was Eoghan "DrRoche" O'Dea who triumphed in Event #51: $400 Pot Limit Omaha. The event created a field of 2,005 entries and prize pool of $753,880, of which O'Dea earned the biggest slice worth $100,945 after defeating Nital "4TheAnimals" Jethalal in heads-up.
While O'Dea is perhaps known to many as a finalist of the 2011 WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas, he has a lot of cashes in PLO tournaments to his name. Most notably, he reached the final table of the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed Championship in 2017 and 2019, finishing in 6th place both times.
O'Dea becomes the fifth Irish player to win the coveted WSOP gold bracelet and further grows the family legacy in a rare feat on the international poker circuit. His father Donnacha O'Dea, one of the most-well known Irish poker legends, left big footsteps to follow in as he was the first Irishman to earn this merit back in 1998. Perhaps, it comes as no surprise that "The Don" also claimed his victory in the great game of PLO and Eoghan can now claim one of his own.
The nine-handed final table also featured Spanish race car driver Daniel "BoooooBie" Juncadella, Lorenzo "EhUsGuri" Bazei, and the two South Africans Jarred "Solosalt" Solomon and Robert "Bobzothejock" Le Roux.

The Day's Action
Action in Event #51: $400 Pot Limit Omaha got underway at 2 p.m. Eastern time, and a steady stream of entries swelled the field to over 2,000 entries. That put $753,880 into the prize pool, with 278 players getting a share of that.
They didn't waste any time getting into the money. There were only five levels of play before players started getting paid, and another two levels saw them down to 130 left. In the end, it took about nine hours to whittle the field down to the final nine players. Along the way, players like Roberto Romanello, Dan Smith, and Danny Tang collected small payouts.
One player in the final nine was at least as well known off the felt as on. Juncadella has a few cashes in no limit hold'em events to his name, but he's also a professional driver in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters for Team R-Motorsport II. His stay at the final table was brief, however, ending his day in ninth place for $8,688.
It didn't take long to lose Bazei and Ruslan "zverrmvp" Nazarenko in eight and seventh, with Chi Chung "chipuker" Ho out in 5th shortly after. They traded pots for about 20 minutes before Solomon ended his day in fifth place for $31,325 and within 20 minutes, they were heads up after Benjamin "Wapbap" Voreland and Le Roux quickly fell in fourth and third.
O'Dea came into heads up with a solid chip lead, and was never at risk. Jethalal managed to chip up in a few smaller pots, but O'Dea took it down a few hands in when Jethalal flopped two pair and a straight draw, and got it in against O'Dea's top set. The Canadian bricked the turn and river, and had to settle for second place and $81,963 while O'Dea scored more than $100,000 as well as a bracelet to match his father's.
After yet another button raise by Eoghan "DrRoche" O'Dea, Nital "4TheAnimals" Jethalal defended out of the small blind and what followed was a raising war on the flop. Jethalal eventually ended up as the player at risk for a pot of more than 36 million and the cards were turned over.
Nital "4TheAnimals" Jethalal:
Eoghan "DrRoche" O'Dea:
Jethalal had bottom two pair and an open-ended straight draw while O'Dea held top set. The on the turn brought no further equity for Jethalal and the river ended his run in 2nd place for a payday of $81,963.
Former Main Event finalist O'Dea has earned his maiden WSOP gold bracelet, which comes with a top prize of $100,945. A full recap of today's action is to follow.
Nital "4TheAnimals" Jethalal faced a raise to 1.25 million by Eoghan "DrRoche" O'Dea and made the call to then check-call a bet of 1.25 million on the flop. After the turn, Jethalal checked once more and O'Dea bet 4 million into 5 million, which did the trick to force a fold.
Soon after the same action repeated preflop but both opted to check the flop. Jethalal then bet the turn for 1.6 million and O'Dea called, the river was checked.
Jethalal flipped over the superior two pair in order to win the pot but fell behind in the next hand as O'Dea dragged in a pot of 5 million once more.
Robert "Bobzothejock" Le Roux raised the button to 800,000 and Eoghan "DrRoche" O'Dea raised to 2.8 million. Le Roux shoved for 5,9696,112 and O'Dea called.
Robert "Bobzothejock" Le Roux:
Eoghan "DrRoche" O'Dea:
O'Dea rivered a set of queens to complete the elimination of Le Roux in 3rd place.
Benjamin "Wapbap" Voreland raised it up to 880,000 on the button and was called by Eoghan "DrRoche" O'Dea in the big blind. On a flop of , O'Dea opted for the check and then called a bet of 980,000 by Voreland.
The on the turn was checked through and the river paired the board. O'Dea checked once more and Boreland now bet 1.96 million with fewer than 5.5 million behind. O'Dea moved all-in and Voreland gave it a few seconds of consideration before calling it off.
O'Dea tabled for tens full of queens and Voreland hit the rail with , he receives $43,165 for his 4th place finish.
The action kicked off with a button raise to 1 million by Nital "4TheAnimals" Jethalal and Jarred "Solosalt" Solomon three-bet the pot to 3.4 million. Jethalal reraised and Solomon called all-in to create the following showdown for a pot of nearly 7.5 million.
Nital "4TheAnimals" Jethalal:
Jarred "Solosalt" Solomon:
Solomon's top two pair on the flop were on shaky ground as Jethalal had a wrap, which hit on the turn. Solomon needed a queen or nine to improve to a full house but the river was the ultimate blank. Solomon has been eliminated in 5th place and takes home $31,325.
Robert "Bobzothejock" Le Roux raised the button to 960,000 and Nital "4TheAnimals" Jethalal defended. Jethalal check-called the flop for 1,590,000, then check-raised the turn from 1.08 million to 7.6 million, forcing Le Roux to fold.
Robert "Bobzothejock" Le Roux raised it up to 960,000 from under the gun and was called by Benjamin "Wapbap" Voreland in the big blind. On a flop of , Voreland check-called a bet of 1.46 million into 2.12 million by Le Roux and had fewer than the size of the pot behind.
The appeared on the turn and Voreland moved all-in, Le Roux reluctantly folded.
