Ivars eliminated by Garla

Pedro "WhyNotChili" Ivars moved all in for 3,659,205 from middle position and Luis "Xapilskinha" Assuncao Garla, fresh off hitting his miracle king to survive, reshoved for 7,610,864 on the button.

Pedro "WhyNotChili" Ivars: {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Luis "Xapilskinha" Assuncao Garla: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}

No help for Ivars on a {6-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{7-Spades}{j-Spades}{8-Hearts} board to make him the 19th place finisher in the HK$8,000 NLH Championship.

Ferreira Runs Out of Chips

Level 18 : 100,000/200,000, 20,000 ante
Ferreira eliminated by Bhatia
Ferreira eliminated by Bhatia

Rui Ferreira jammed as one of the shorter stacks from the under-the-gun position and found a customer in the small blind in Kunal "Alex_52" Bhatia.

They were off to the races as Ferreira tabled the {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} whereas Bhatia held {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}. A queen appeared right away on the {q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Spades} board and that spelled the end for Ferreira in 20th place.

Rapid Eliminations Incoming

Level 18 : 100,000/200,000, 20,000 ante

In a matter of minutes the field has been reduced by two players and both of them lost the last of it after grinding a short stack.

Omar "nviDiablo" Gonzalez got it in with {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} but was dominated by the {a-Spades}{k-Hearts} of Pedro "WhyNotChili" Ivars.

The {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} board was a tease but Gonzalez ended up second best.

Ville "HAUKKA" Haavisto then jammed the {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts} and "d0rk21" called from one seat over on the button.

The board delivered {k-Spades}{10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{2-Spades}{3-Spades} for yet another missed draw and the Finn was out in 21st place.

Brutal Beat for "genbengLee": Aces Cracked by Kings

Level 18 : 100,000/200,000, 20,000 ante
Garla doubles with kings vs aces
Garla doubles with kings vs aces

Aces versus kings, one of the classic setups in poker, is always nasty to lose. It happens once out of five times, but having it happen with 20 players remaining in a WSOP bracelet event with over $3.5M HKD up top is the stuff of nightmares.

It just happened to "genbengLee", who saw Luis "Xapilskinha" Assuncao Garla spike a king on the turn to dismantle his rockets and be left with just 800k in chips.

No More "SexyBaldGuy"

Level 18 : 100,000/200,000, 20,000 ante
Mantovani eliminated by Theologis
Mantovani eliminated by Theologis

Ignacio "Curandero" Moron raised to 400,000 in the cutoff, Alexandre "SexyBaldGuy" Mantovani three-bet shoved 3,516,012 from the small blind, Alexandros "THE Sheriff" Theologis came over the top in the big blind for almost ten million and Moron quickly folded.

Alexandre "SexyBaldGuy" Mantovani: {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Alexandros "THE Sheriff" Theologis: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

The {4-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} board was as easy as they'd come for Theologis, ending it for the clean-shaven Brazilian.

Maimone then got it in for a far larger pot soon after as he was dominated this time in a pot of 14.7 million against Wenhao "pwhwin" Peng.

Nick "rdcrsn" Maimone: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Wenhao "pwhwin" Peng: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}

Fate would be a cruel one on a board of {j-Spades}{10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{a-Spades} as Maimone flopped a set but Peng turned the superior set.

Maruhashi eliminated by Sammartino

Akichika "akichiam" Maruhashi managed to win two all-ins and was then all-in again for 153,819 from under the gun which prompted the raise of Dario Sammartino to 544,000 total from one seat over. Alan "TheCockRoach" Schein on the button called and Sammartino check-called a bet of 1,195,365 on the {j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop.

They checked the {4-Diamonds} turn and Sammartino's bet of 2,608,000 on the {2-Spades} river was called by Schein.

Playing well, running well. One of the stars of the WSOP on GGPoker, Paul Teoh, open-shoved his {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} for 2,878,215 in middle position but saw Akichika "akichiam" Maruhashi wake up behind him with {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}.

Teoh got there during a {9-Spades}{4-Spades}{k-Clubs}{k-Spades}{8-Spades} rundown, flopping a set and turning a boat to leave Maruhashi with scraps, which he lost shortly after.
