The 2021 WSOP.com Online Bracelet Hunt Begins With Event #1: $500 NLH The Big 500 Kick-Off

The ultimate goal of most poker tournament aficionados is laying claim to a WSOP Gold Bracelet. For 2021, the quest to earn a bracelet begins today, with the WSOP.com Online Bracelet Event series kicking off with Event #1: $500 NLH The Big 500 Kick-Off set to begin at 3 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (or 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time for New Jersey residents).

33 bracelets are set to be given out on WSOP.com over the next month, with another 33 to be handed out on GGPoker in August. Players looking to win a bracelet on WSOP.com must be physically located in Nevada or New Jersey to participate in the series, while the GGPoker version of the WSOP online will cater to international players.

"The bar has been set with last year’s record-breaking series, but we’re hoping to raise it even higher this year," WSOP Director Gregory Chochon told PokerNews earlier this year. "One of our goals is to provide as many people the chance to become champions as possible. However, we know not everyone can or is comfortable traveling yet, so continuing a robust online bracelet offering in 2021 is a must."

Event #1 Overview

The opening event of the 2021 WSOP.com Online Bracelet Series gives players 20,000 in starting chips, with blinds starting at 25/50 and increasing every 15 minutes. Players who bust the tournament may re-enter up to three times.

Re-entry and late registration for this tournament will remain open for three hours and fifty-five minutes, or until 6:55 p.m. PST (or 9:55 p.m. EST). This is a one-day event, meaning the tournament will play down to a winner in a single session. The winner will be awarded a WSOP Gold Bracelet.

WSOP.com Bracelet Event Schedule

The 2021 WSOP.com Bracelet Event Schedule offers 33 chances for players to get their hands on a coveted WSOP Gold Bracelet. ALL 2021 WSOP.COM ONLINE BRACELET EVENTS ARE ONE-DAY EVENTS.

Two 2020 WSOP.com Online Bracelet Winners in the Early Field

Louis "PokeThese" Lynch's Winning Hand
Louis "PokeThese" Lynch's Winning Hand

As the start of the first event of the 2021 WSOP.com Online Bracelet Series begins, two players who snagged bracelets in 2020 were spotted in the field, in search of more jewelry to go in their trophy cases.

Louis "PokeThese" Lynch was able to net a bracelet early in last year's series, as the Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania native was able to best a field of 919-entries to win Event #2: $1,000 NLH Deepstack 8-Max to earn a $168,568 top prize, which at the time more than doubled his lifetime career tournament earnings. Lynch defeated Ryan "KOVID19" Ko heads-up to earn his first career WSOP bracelet.

Also in the field is Matthew "Bodeyster" Bode, who topped a field of 1,179 entries in Event #4: $500 NLH Super Turbo to win his first career WSOP Bracelet, as well as $97,091. Bode won the bracelet after calling his shot a few days prior on his Twitter account, saying, "Here goes to becoming a secret online crusher." The secret didn't stay that way for long, and a few days later, Bode earned the coveted WSOP Gold Bracelet to earn his place among the elite that own a WSOP Online Gold Bracelet.

We'll be tracking Lynch and Bode's progress throughout this year's version of the WSOP.com Online Bracelet Series to see if they can replicate their success from 2020.

Negreanu Scoops Early Pot

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

Action quickly folded around to Daniel "DNegs" Negreanu who raised to 150 from the small blind and was called by the big blind.

The {2-Spades}{8-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop saw Negreanu continue for 100 and then call the 400 raise from his opponent bringing the {2-Clubs} turn. Both players checked and the {6-Diamonds} river saw Negreanu win the pot with a 825 uncontested bet.

This summer, the World Series of Poker (WSOP) will hold 66 gold bracelet events online between WSOP.com and GG Poker.

The former client will cater to players in Nevada and New Jersey (players in Delaware are NOT able to participate), while the latter will serve the international base.

WSOP.com will hold 33 events – one each day for the month of July – while the other 33 will take place on GG Poker.

For players either in Nevada or New Jersey (remember, you must be 21+ to participate), or those planning to travel in, PokerNews put together all the information you need to know and also answered some lingering questions, which you can read here.

Download WSOP.com

The first step in getting set up to play on WSOP.com is to download the client. You can do so for both mobile (Android and iOS) and desktop (Windows 7 or higher and Mac OS X 10.6.8).

Also, the WSOP.com client can only support playing one table at a time on mobile.

Finally, pot-limit Omaha (PLO) games and tournaments are not compatible on mobile and must be played via a computer.
