Kornuth Turns Broadway to Eliminate Gross

Level 8 : 300/600, 0 ante

After two initial limpers, Chance "BingShui" Kornuth raised from the small blind, Ian "apokerjoker2" Steinman defended his big blind and action folded to Jeff "Mahakala108" Gross who came along as well on the button.

The {10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{q-Spades} flop was checked to Gross who fired out 4,000 and Kornuth raised to 20,000. After Steinman mucked his hand, Gross jammed for 21,100 and Kornuth quickly called.

Jeff "Mahakala108" Gross: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Chance "BingShui" Kornuth: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{k-Spades}{j-Spades}

Gross was ahead after flopping top-set but the {a-Diamonds} appeared on the turn giving Kornuth broadway.

Gross needed to see the board pair on the river or see the case queen but the {3-Clubs} appeared and ended his tournament.

Ian "apokerjoker2" Steinman Looking to Crush Another WSOP Online Bracelet Series

Level 8 : 300/600, 0 ante
Ian Steinman
Ian Steinman

One WSOP Gold Bracelet. Three final tables. Fifteen cashes. That was the body of work of Ian "apokerjoker2" Steinman in last year's WSOP.com Online Bracelet Series, one that would be the envy of nearly everyone who fired in last year's version. Steinman, who already has been seeking action on some bracelet bets for this year's series, will be looking to duplicate his many deep runs and massive success this year.

Steinman's heater began last year with two final tables early in the series, with a fifth-place performance in Event #7: $800 NLH Knockout Deepstack for $24,578, followed by a sixth-place finish two days later in Event #9: $1,000 NLH 6-Max for $30,995. Steinman's bracelet would be earned late in the series, when he took down Event #27: $400 NLH Freezeout for $110,557 after beating Japan's Satoshi Tanaka in heads-up play. Steinman used these performances to take down the $100,000 Leaderboard competition of the WSOP.com portion of the series, which sent an additional $18,000 his way.

Steinman doesn't appear to be resting on his laurels in preparing for a summer of poker, however, already getting in some prep work by winning the Benny Binion Summer Shoot-Out at the South Point Poker Room for $65,000 after a three-way deal. As much as winning his first bracelet meant to Steinman, the quest for another crusher of a summer is on for the hyper-talented Steinman.

Jason "heybuddyyyy" Dewitt: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{a-Hearts}

Sladek Trips Up Franklin

Level 7 : 250/500, 0 ante
Todd Sladek
Todd Sladek

A series of preflop raises saw Ryan "postmatessel" Franklin three-bet jam for 6,825 from middle position and Todd "Chi.T.420" Sladek called from the button.

Todd "Chi.T.420" Sladek: {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Ryan "postmatessel" Franklin: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs}

Franklin was ahead with his pocket aces and the {9-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop paired Sladek, while giving both players the club flush draw with Franklin holding the better.

The turn was bad for Franklin as the {9-Hearts} that appeared gave Sladek trip nines and the {8-Diamonds} river didn't help either player as Franklin re-entered the tournament.
