WSOP Legend: Doyle Brunson's Final Bracelet

Level 34 : 40,000/80,000, 8,000 ante
WSOP Legend Doyle Brunson
WSOP Legend Doyle Brunson

At the beginning of the 2005 WSOP, Doyle Brunson remained the co-king of the all-time bracelet count, tied along with Johnny Chan at nine. However, as the series drew toward its close in late June, that was no longer the case — Chan had overtaken him by winning No. 10 to stand atop the mountain alone.

Brunson was already phasing out his tournament play, having cashed precisely zero times that summer and just three times in the previous two combined, although one had resulted in a bracelet victory.

When it came time for Event #31: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed, Brunson dusted off his tournament chops and made a run.

Level 35 : 50,000/100,000, 10,000 ante

Jason "jayriv" Rivkin raised to 214,500 from under the gun and after losing majority of his stack with king-queen against aces, Michael "annie_r_u_ok" Trivett put his 68,098 stack in the middle from the button.

Action folded to Dan "omg_its_dan" Gallegos who jammed for 1,573,824 from the big blind and Rivkin snap-called.

Jason "jayriv" Rivkin: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}
Dan "omg_its_dan" Gallegos: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Michael "annie_r_u_ok" Trivett: {q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}

The {k-Spades} turn wasn't a diamond but it did pair Rivkin's king and the {5-Clubs} river secured him the double elimination.
