Schmidt Gets Full Value With Straight

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Action arrived on the river with a pot of about 500,000 in the middle. The board read the {8-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{q-Spades}{9-Clubs}.

Bobby Schmidt moved all in for his remaining amount of 265,000 to put the pressure on Andrew Bart, who stewed it over for several moments.

After over a minute, he called. Schmidt said straight and tabled the {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} which was the winner as he collected the huge pot and create a big change in chips at the table.

Schmidt Doubles Another

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Bobby Schmidt was the victim of another double-up, this time at the hands of Bryan Garrett.

Schmidt opened from the button to 85,000 before Garrett raised all in from the big blind for his last 210,000. Schmidt made the call with {a-Diamonds}{8-Spades} but got the bad news when Garrett turned over {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}.

The board ran out {5-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{3-Clubs} and Garrett doubled to 430,000.

Cuevas Flips Well to Double Through Schmidt

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Rico Cuevas moved his last 350,000 into the middle holding {4-Spades}{4-Hearts} and was called by Bobby Schmidt with {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}.

The flop of {5-Hearts}{9-Spades}{j-Hearts} brought Schmidt the nut flush draw, but the {2-Spades} turn and {8-Clubs} river didn't provide any more help to Schmidt, and Cuevas doubled to around 750,000.

Schmidt was left with 850,000.

James Scott moved all in from under the gun. It folded around to Justin Steinman in the small blind who called.

James Scott: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Justin Steinman: {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}

The flop came the {j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. The turn gave a few more outs to Scott as the {k-Hearts} came off but the river ended his hope as the {k-Spades} came down to finish his run in twelfth place.

Minton Continues to Build

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Chip leader Chris Minton just took another big pot, this time off Leo Abbe.

It started when Minton raised from under the gun to 65,000 and Abbe three-bet to 165,000 from the small blind. Minton made the call and they saw a flop of {j-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}.

Abbe slowed down and checked, allowing Minton to fire out 200,000. Abbe thought it over for about a minute before laying his hand down.

Minton now owns a stack of 1,800,000, while Abbe dropped down to 750,000.

Marco Starnoni Eliminated in 13th Place ($1,804)

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Marco Starnoni
Marco Starnoni

Marco Starnoni had a great chance to eliminate Bobby Schmidt in a preflop all in, holding pocket rockets, {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} vs the {k-Spades}{5-Spades} of Schmidt.

But the flop hit Schmidt as it came the {10-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{5-Clubs} to send the aces into a sudden spiral against the two-pair. The turn was the {9-Diamonds} and the river came the {2-Clubs} to leave Starnoni with crumbs and give Schmidt a healthy stack.

Although Starnoni would hang around a while afterwards by winning two all ins, he would eventually succumb to Rico Cuevas when his {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} could not chase down the {a-}{q-} in a preflop all in to end his tournament in thirteenth place.
