The Flipping is Done. For More Than 150 Players, it's Time to Go in Event #20: $1,000 Flip & Go No Limit Hold'em

Flip & Gos, the poker format made popular on GGPoker, makes its live debut at the World Series of Poker today in Event #20: $1,000 Flip & Go No-Limit Hold'em.

The idea is simple. All players were automatically all in and dealt three cards. They were allowed to discard one on the flop. Whoever made the best hand at the table advanced to the restart at 7 p.m. PST.

For more 154 lucky players, the event will begin to feel like a normal tournament from here on out. They will begin with 160,000 chips and blinds at 1,000-2,000, with a 2,000 big blind ante. The schedule calls for 12 30-minute levels to be played today, with a 20-minute break after every four levels.

Several players took more than one shot at making it through. Daniel Negreanu finally qualified on his ninth try. But even that was dwarfed by 2004 Main Event runner-up David Williams, who took 19 tries before finally winning his table.

This is a two-day event, with the survivors from Day 1AB returning tomorrow to play down to a champion. One of these 154-plus players will have the distinction of being the first-ever WSOP Flip & Go champion.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for all the live updates to find out who it will be.
