"You Made a Mistake"

Level 23 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante
Conrad Simpson
Conrad Simpson

Conrad Simpson, who has claimed throughout the past two days that he'd never played 2-7 Triple Draw before this tournament has held his own very well, and has recently put two-time bracelet winner David "Bakes" Baker into the danger zone with his chip stack.

First, Simpson raised from the small blind into Baker's big blind. Simpson drew one while Baker drew three.

Simpson bet, and was then surprised to see a raise from Baker, but he called.

Simpson drew one while Baker stood pat, then he check-called another bet from Baker.

Both players then patted the last round and checked.

Simpson showed {8-}{7-}{5-}{4-}{3-} and Baker mucked his hand.

In a hand shortly after, action was picked up in a drawing round with Simpson drawing one and Baker patting his hand.

"You made a mistake, you forgot to ask for cards", said Simpson as he checked to Baker, who bet.

Simpson then put in a check-raise, and after a brief moment of pause, Baker mucked his hand.

Baker Digs Into Deutsch

David "Bakes" Baker
David "Bakes" Baker

David "Bakes" Baker raised in early position and got called on the button by Stephen Deutsch.

Each player drew two and Baker led out with a bet, which Deutsch called.

Baker then drew one while Deutsch drew two, and again Baker bet out and was called by Deutsch.

They each drew one and Baker checked. This time Deutsch bet, but he was quickly called by Baker.

Deutsch showed {3-}{3-} for a failed snow on the end and Baker rolled over {j-}{6-}{5-}{3-}{2-} for the winner as he climbs toward the million chip mark.

On the second round of betting, Andrew Yeh committed the last of his chips and ran into a pat hand held by Stephen Deutsch.

Yeh drew two on that round and then again on the final round.

Deutsch rolled over {9-}{7-}{5-}{3-}{2-}, and Yeh then sweated his final two cards. The first was an {8-}, leaving him drawing live to his last card, but a paired {5-} ended Yeh's day.

Shortly after the elimination of Matt Grapenthien, Katherine Fleck was the next unfortunate player to be busted.

According to David Baker, he drew one card on the first draw then patted the rest of the way against Fleck, who had to draw two cards in all three rounds and couldn't improve to a hand that could beat Baker's {8-}{7-}{x-}{x-}{x-}
