Katz Doubles With Two Pair

Level 8 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Cary Katz was all-in for around 60,000 on a flop of {4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{k-Clubs} and his heads-up opponent called.

Cary Katz: {k-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Hearts}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{7-Hearts}

"I am in bad shape," Katz said before even seeing his opponent's hand. But the turn brought the {5-Diamonds} to give Katz the lead with two pair, and the {6-Diamonds} on the river only improved his hand.

"I'm sorry, you didn't deserve to lose that hand," Katz told his opponent after securing the double-up.

How Does Yockey Lose This One?

Level 8 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

In a four-bet pot, Bryce Yockey was heads-up with Martin Dam in the big blind with around 160,000 chips already in the middle. The flop came {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and the two players got all of their chips in the middle with the big blind at risk for 56,500.

Martin Dam: {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}
Bryce Yockey: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{q-Spades}

"Let's put more money in the pot!" Yockey shouted as he stood up from his chair. Yockey was the heavy favorite with the best hand including a wrap and a flush draw. However, the {5-Diamonds} on the turn gave Dam his own flush draw. Unfortunately for Yockey, that was the one that would come in as the {j-Diamonds} completed the board.

"How the f*** do I lose this one?" Yockey exclaimed as his chips were sent across the table.

"You're lucky you didn't put more money in the put," Jeremy Ausmus joked.

"Yeah, I'm lucky," replied Yockey.

Le Gets Some Value From Jamasi

Level 7 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

On a completed board of {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{7-Spades}, Tommy Le in the big blind bet 15,800 and table big stack Farhad Jamasi mulled over his decision in the cutoff. Jamasi then tossed in calling chips and Le revealed {a-Spades}{j-Spades}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs} for a jack-high straight and Jamasi mucked the {8-Hearts}{6-Clubs} for an inferior straight.

JC Tran has also chipped up on the same table previously as Jamasi is down quite a bit off the peak he had an hour ago.

Arthur Morris just recently got moved tables and started the hand with nearly a fresh starting stack. In a three-bet pot, Morris was heads-up with Eric Kurtzman. The flop was {8-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Kurtzman led out for 20,000. Morris raised the pot to 84,000 and Kurtzman re-potted, putting Morris at risk for his entire stack.

Arthur Morris: {a-Diamonds}{a-}{q-Diamonds}{q-}
Eric Kurtzman: {a-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

Kurtzman held a pair with a straight draw while Morris had the best hand and best draw with a pair of aces and a flush draw. However, the {4-Spades} on the turn and the {5-Spades} on the river gave Kurtzman a straight and Morris was eliminated.

Jachtmann Hits the Rail After Getting Aces Cracked

Level 7 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Jan-Peter Jachtmann
Jan-Peter Jachtmann

Jan-Peter Jachtmann opened in early position and saw a flop against Eric Kurtzman in late position and the player in the big blind.

Jachtmann bet 10,000 on the flop of {3-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and only Kurtzman called. Jachtmann sized up to 34,400 on the {8-Clubs} turn with just 5,000 or so behind and Kurtzman took a minute before calling.

Jachtmann moved all-in on the {7-Clubs} river and his opponent called. Jachtmann showed {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{k-Hearts} for aces but it was no good against the straight of Kurtzman, who held {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}.
